Hotel Salvator in Prague?
 

Has anyone stayed here? Looks nice for the price. <BR><BR>www.salvator.cz

We stayed at the Hotel Salvator in Prague for several days this past May and thought it was very nice, centrally located, and a good value. The rooms were clean and large, each with modern, new bathroom facilities. The staff at the desk were very helpful and the in-house restaurant served delicious food. Breakfasts were great too, many items and good strong coffee. We picked this hotel for its good location and price, and were delighted with our choice. We'd stay here again.

Kathy, thanks for your response! I am actually considering the rooms that they have without bath; did you happen to see them? I think they are on the first floor. Did you feel it was close enough to the center? Can you walk there from the train station? Was it quiet and safe at night?

I stayed there in 1999 for 3 days. You're about a 5 minute walk to the old city center. I thought the location was perfect. If you're going to have a car, they let you park in the courtyard of the hotel at night. Parking on the street is for residents only and you will get towed. The breakfast was very good, except for the tang-like juice.<BR><BR>I don't remember how far the underground was, but we walked to it with no problem. We stayed in a room with a bath down the hall. The bath was large and had a nice shower area. We were then moved to a large 2-room suite with a bath (as we had reserved) which was also spacious and clean. Remember though, it was not luxurious in any way..just clean. The beds are quite firm and very low to the ground. The staff, at that time, were young and helpful and spoke English well...as did most.

Monique, I don't know what the rooms without baths are like, sorry. But if they're on the first floor, and in the front portion of the hotel, they'll be right above the restaurant. Since the restaurant stays open late, and because it has windows that open wide, onto the street, those rooms may be noisy. Ours was quiet since we were on the third floor--but still in the front section above the restaurant. <BR>There is a train station nearby, but not the main one. However, there are several metro stops in that area, so you could use one of these to get from the train to the hotel. One metro stop brings you a block away from the hotel. It's at a very busy intersection that we fondly referred to as Prague's "time square". I suppose you could walk from the main train station if your luggage is not too burdensome. It would be a long walk though, with luggage. The main train station is located somewhat near the opera house, and we walked to the opera and back with no problems or worries. We felt safe in that area in the evening. The hotel location is down a quiet side street, just off a main street (can't remember it's name)and not far from the old town square, a five or ten minute walk. Hope this helps you. Kathy

I think the rooms with bath are about $100.

Joanne, If I remember correctly, the price for a double room with bath was around $80/night, breakfast included. (mid-May 2002) Kathy

The room we had, w/ no bath, was on the 3rd fl. The prices, in 1999 were really cheap...I'm thinking it was around $100. or less for a 2-room suite for 3 people. Also, If you suffer from claustrophobia, do not use the tiny elevator....it has to be the world's smallest.

Thank you all for your responses. Sadly no plans for trip to Prague in the immediate future, but hoping to go there in the next couple of years. This will be helpful when we are making plans.<BR><BR>Had to laugh about the small elevator. We have had some that would not accommodate both of us and our luggage, so my husband would go up and open the room and I would follow with my luggage.
