Hotel Rooms - cots available?
Hi everyone,
Not many hotels advertise their extra charges for a cot in the room. I'm guessing that due to the size of the room, cots may not be possible in most places. Does anyone know of any three or four star hotels which have a double bed and add a charge for a cot? Should I be looking for a triple (it seems that internet searches turn up far fewer choices when I do searches for triples!) Thanks! |
Where??

If this is for a child, look at the Mercure and Novotel chains.

What do you mean by a cot ? Here it means a baby's bed but I gather that in the US it means an adult-sized camp bed ?
|
In most of Europe the standard is that hotels will provide a cot.
The size of the room won't stop them providing a cot but you may find that there is very little room left! Yes many hotels do charge but I've never been charged more than a nominal fee of around EUR50 per week and in some cases no fee at all. I'm assuming here that you mean a cot for a baby. In that case I wouldn't search for a triple but I would call the hotel before booking just to double check that they will provide a cot in your room. |
If you want a normal size bed then yes, you'll have to look for a triple.
Cots here are what are called cribs in the US. |
You must book your rooms based on the number of people staying in the room. Children under a certain age may stay free, but they must be counted.

He again,
It would be for a child. Thanks for all your responses, I will book a triple for my travel companions! Enjoy your day! |
Yes, in the US a cot can simply be a folding bed for an adult.
In europe a cot (in England a crib is called a cot) is a very small bed - often good for a toddler - but not big enough for even a larger child. Unless the chid is under 4 or so I would look at hotels with triple rooms - or confirm by email how old a child a cot will hold. |
Here in Galicia we are obliged by law to provide a cot for free to children under the age of 4. However most small establishments only have one so if that is booked then you may be out of luck.
