Hotel room in Rome for 4?
We are travelling to Rome in the beginning of March. I'm trying to find a room that will sleep four (two adults and two children) that is centrally located and would have a private bath. Also, we are hoping to do a sightseeing trip to Assisi and would like the hotel to help arrange that for us. I've done some research and I like the Hiberia so far. Does anyone have feedback on that or can recommend something else in the area.

Thanks!

I'm afraid that organized tours from Rome to Assisi start only in April. To make the visit on public transportation is somewhat awkard because of the travelling time involved. The option that causes least strain is taking the 9:12am direct train out from Termini, arriving at Sta. Maria degli Angeli at 11:21am and returning on the 6:29pm direct train, arriving at 8:22pm (or the 4:06pm direct train, arriving at 6:17pm). You may also take the bus out from Tiburtina station in Rome (leaving at 7:15am/8:15am, arriving at 10am/11:10am), coupled with a train return.

Paulo

Sheila,
Other hotels that can accommodate a family such as yours are;
Hotel Torre Argentina; 2 bedrms and bath and terrace.
Albergo Regno; family room with a queen and two twins, and bath
Cesari; a 4 person room
Albergo del senato, 1 bedrm and living
room with pull out couch, terrace, and bath.
All these can be found on the www.venere.it site, along with a map.
they are pretty prompt in responding to e-mail messages.
good luck, and have fun

We will be in Italy mid-march, also a family of 4. We took a room at the Santa Chiara hotel in Rome. They have a 'family' room that accomodates 4. Hotels seems to have only a handful of these larger rooms and many times don't mention it on their websites where rates are quoted. This particular hotel has been highly recommended here. I emailed all the hotels i was interested in to see what they have for a family of 4 (in my case, my kids don't like to share a bed either). All the hotels responded. This hotel is also very well-located(behind pantheon). We are also planning a night in Orvieto (not too far from Assisi). We booked Hotel Palazzo Piccolomini, also a family room.

We stayed at Hotel Des Artiste. It is fairly close to the train station (in a good area) and close to a subway stop. many families were staying there - I believe they have family rooms. The staff was very friendly, the cost reasonable, the hotel very clean. We booked over the internet. (I don't have a web address with me - but I found them originally just by doing a web search for 'rome hotels' or something like that.) Hope this helps.
