Hotel Room in Paris

We've got reservations already in Paris and want to keep the same hotel room, but we also want to stay overnight in another region of France. Would this be advisable regarding leaving our luggage(no valuables only clothing) in our Paris hotel room?

I've asked Paris hoteliers if I could leave luggage in a storage area for an overnite away, and it worked out ok. No guarantee, of course, but if I thought(?) the hotel was run by trustworthy people, I would do it. For me, it would also depend upon size of hotel, neighborhood it's in, etc. I'd have more faith in a small, family operated place.

In the room? No. In the hotel's secured luggage area (assuming they have one - most hotels do), yes. As with the other poster, I'd only do this in a hotel I was familiar with.

Thank you for the help. The Paris hotel is the Abbatial St. Germain. According to the email correspondences I've received from reception, they seem professional. Any thoughts about this hotel in this regard?

I did this in London many years ago. I don't know why I as so trusting, but it worked out fine. I'd stay in London a day or two, then leave for another town for a few days, then return to London, etc. I had a different room each time I was back in London, but I didn't care. I was able to go off to York and Bath and Cornwall with a bag that was so light and small that I could carry it around all day if necessary.

I also did this in a medium sized town in Sicily where I stayed one night, then left for an overnight visit to a tiny mountain town where I didn't want to have to take my luggage, then returned to the medium sized town. Again, no problems. The hotel just SEEMED very trustworthy.

I've done this a couple of times, two different ways:
1) keep the room and pay for the night(s) you're not staying. Never had anything taken from a hotel room, but maybe I've just been lucky.
2) check out, but leave the baggage with the front desk to be held until your return. Again, never had anything taken or gone missing (did it once for seven days in Venice, no problem).

We left our bags with the hotel in Madrid when we did an overnight to Toledo and didn't think twice about it. It was nice traveling light for a quick overnight trip. Bag could get broken into at the airport, in your room or variety of other places just as easily as in the hotel's luggage room.
