Hotel room in Florence
 

We are looking for suggestions for a hotel in a central location in Florence. Would prefer something for around $150 US dollars. We were there three years ago and when we checked on that hotel the price had gone up greatly. Thanks in advance

I don't remember the cost, but I feel sure it was in the range of $150 or less.

It was an easy block or so walk from the train station and just a block from the Duomo and market area. We had the room in the first picture, which was simple but clean and airy.

The hosts are really nice guys and a very full, complimentary breakfast is served in your room within five minutes of calling them.

We would definitely stay there again.

I stayed at the latter last year, and, friends have stayed at the former. I was happy with my stay and my friends enjoyed theirs as well.

We stayed at a Sandra Gustafson recommendation in Florence called Morandi a la Crocetta and it was lovely! Price was reasonable, it was small but rooms were large, and it was nicely located just a couple blocks from the Duomo. Very pretty breakfast room and excellent help at the desk. We even had our own charming terrace.

Have you checked out Hotel Casci (www.hotelcasci.com)? It's popular with Fodorites and you can't beat the location.

You might also want to check Hotel Accademia. it was in that price range when we stayed there in august. I'm assuming you're looking or a standard double room. The cost may vary with the time of year so beware of that. Accademia is a 5 minute or so walk from the train station, 2 blocks from the duomo, David, medici chapels, etc so I would say it was centrally located for us.

Depending on the time of year, Tourist House Ghiberti is within your budget and highly recommended by many Fodorites.

Hotel Davanzati is an excellent 3 star family operated hotel in the best location http://www.hoteldavanzati.it/

I'm looking for something similar myself for next Sept - definitely <€150, ideally €100-125, so this is timeous.

However I've checked the above suggestions and would gently point out that the Rivoli Suites, the Brunelleschi, the Morandi all Crocetta, the Tourist House Ghiberti and the Davanzati are all considerably more expensive than the OP's budget. Shame about the Morandi all Crocetta which looks fab.

The Casci looks appealing, though - it hadn't come up on my Tripadvisor search (€75-150, graded 3-5, at least 2 stars, in 'Historic District / City Centre') as they estimate it at €161 but the hotel's website is quoting me €127.50.

The Porta Faenza was my previous frontrunner - any comments, especially on the economy rooms ?

I stayed at the Alloro in September and my single was 60€.

Well I didn't include the Alloro in those above the OP's budget - but for my dates (in Sept) a double is €130.64 for advance booking of >3 nights - so it is >$150. I assumed that "we" meant the OP wants a double.

Another vote for the Casci. Cannot beat the location, and the hotel itself is great. Not luxury/posh, but very well kept and the owners are very nice. I would definitely stay there again.

Caroline - there was a discussion here about 2 years ago about bedbugs at the Porta Faenza. If you search on bedbugs, you'll find it. Although I would think the problem's been taken care of by now, or they'd be out of business, and realizing that could happen to any hotel, anywhere, still, it would give me pause when considering the hotel.

I will reiterate that "depending on the time of year," the Tourist House Ghiberti is within the OP's budget. In September, no. But off-season, yes.

jExIcA, those look nice, thanks, but are not in Florence. Funnily enough I stayed in a villa outside San Casciana Val di Pesa a couple of years ago.

Yes, I was in Siena and e-mailed asking about rates for one night. The rate was about 10€ cheaper than on their website.
