Hotel @ Rome Airport vs. in town

I need to book rooms for 16 family members who will be flying out of Rome on a 7:30 am flight. Where is the best place to book for less than adventurous family that will need to be at the airport at 4:30 or 5:00 am? The airport hotels or the city? This will be in mid-October 2001. Thanks for any advise!

I have stayed at the Airport Palace Hotel near the airport for early flights, they have shuttle service and it takes just a few moments. Not much on atmosphere, I would arrive there late and go straight to sleep.
But a good price for convenience.
Phone: 01139 656 92341

Not sure I understand your question. Where are you comming from? Where will you have been?
City center is far superior to staying at the airport. There is nothing to do near the airport and it is a less than desirable area.
You can get cabs 24hrs a day to take you to the airport. However, shuttles do not run until about 6:30 AM. Your hotel will also help you arrange transportation if you ask.
You do not need to be at the airport that early. Fiumacino is not the disaster most US airports have become. One hour before flight time is sufficient. Since you have such a large group I guess you will need to add extra time for logistical delays.

Travel time by cab, shuttle etc from downtown Rome to Fiumacino airport is about 30-35 minutes at that time of the morning.

Jessica, Search and find the Satellite Palace hotel in Ostia. You can also book it at www.travel-italy.com. A train goes right to Ostia from Terminus. They have a shuttle.
