Hotel Richmond Rome...Try again

It was suggested to me by another poster (thankyou) that I should repost this message with a more specific title. So here we go again..Does anyone have comments on the Hotel Richmond in Rome? It is in the Forum area and any previous threads concerning it seem dated. I'm wondering if the hotel may be as well??We are down to the choice of Albergo del Senato at the Pantheon for well over 300E for a dbl room. (There seems no doubt that this hotel is a fav of Fodors posters.) We did however think of staying at the Richmond on our return for a change of location and a break for our pocketbook. We will be doing all our travelling in May/June the'high'season. Help!

Hi minx, I am not familar with this hotel but I have stayed in that location which was just fine.

Out of curiosity I went onto Google. The website is www.hotelrichmondrome.com.

It looks like a great hotel, they even have a rooftop restaurant.

Trip advisor has two good comments from two different families that stayed in June (assume the comments are legit).

Check the website out and see what you think. Best wishes.

At last I have a reply. Thanks for that LoveItaly...think we'll book it for our last days in Rome. Just read Terry's view on Italy. Bet that made your blood boil.Sure isn't the Italy we encountered last trip that made us rush back and book it again.

Hi minx, I am glad you saw my post...after looking at the Hotel Richmond's website I thought "I would like to say there!" Personally I think it is good to stay in different areas of a city, sounds like you do to.

Now minx, about that Terry's view of Italy, I don't even know what to say, LOL. I have known people that did not enjoy Italy as much as some of us, or did not enjoy Rome as they were overwhelmed, or found Florence crowded with tourist and hot and humid weather (I have had that happen) etc., but......Terry didn't seem to relate to Italy or Italians to well did he? Although the comment was made that he had a good time. What part of the trip was good I really don't understand however.

Minx, have fun planning your trip, hope you can post back with what else you will be doing in Italy. Best wishes to you.

LoveItaly, Ya missed it by a vowel it's www.hotelrichmondromA.com/

minx, I noticed on their website that they only book thru 'venere.com'.
I'd assume the Venere would get a commission above the hotel's rate?
Why don't you try dealing with the hotel direct (fax or phone-numbers are listed on their website) perhaps you'll bet a better rate.
I'd mention that you like the location and you are *looking* into hotels in the area, like their's and the Hotel Romano.
The Romano is just a stone's throw away from the Richmond and cheaper. Perhaps they will offer you a better rate to be competitive?
Regards, Walter
