Hotel reservations needed?

We are traveling May 23 to June 10. Plan to make reservations in Istanbul and Cappadocia. Plan to travel to Med coast and Selcuk area by car. Would love to leave things flexible. Do you think we can find decent (mid range) hotels without booking now?

Millie, I think it depends on where you plan to stop and how fussy you are about where you stay overnight. I did a road trip from Istanbul south along the coast a year or so ago...it was amazing! My favorite town was Foca. Have you looked at the hotels on:

This was probably my favorite hotel of the road trip; you could easily spend a few days here and make side trips to Bergama and to the beaches.

We had to book ahead for early October; people without reservations were turned away.

Ditto for the Nisanyan house in Sirince.

did you feel the reviews are unbiased on this website?

At this point I'm booking for Istanbul and Cappadocia area. But still would like to hear if the Med coast is okay without reservations during this time period. I would think we can book ahead a few days. Just not sure how long we want to stay where. Anyone else do htis?

On which website, Millie..the Nisanyan site?

Where are you thinking of staying or visiting on the drive from Istanbul to Selcuk? As I said, a few properties we found were full so we would have needed to reserve. But if you want to be less tied down, I think you will find a place with little problem...

I wrote a small report about the first part of my trip and will post it here if you would like to see it. It tells about Istanbul and the first part of my drive down the coast. First night was Assos.

For sure you will find a place to stay. If you are keen to stay at a hotel particularly than better you book ahead.
April - May is high season in Cappadocia, Med and Aegean will have their high season July and August.
One modest place for you in Cappadocia can be : www.goremehouse.com
Hotel Nilya Hotel in Seljuk, Kirkinca House in Sirince www.kirkinca.com

Happy Travelling

If anyone wants the answer to my original questions, I don't think I needed reservations for the part of the trip that was not in Istanbul (Cappadocia, Med/(canada hotel) Selcuk) though I had them except for Selcuk.
