Hotel Reisen or the Gamla Stan ?
Anyone stayed at either hotel ? Trying to decide between the two.

The Rica Gamla Stan is excellent; great location, nicely decorated rooms, friendly staff and parking is available. We really enjoyed our stay there.

Bob, I stayed at the Hotel Reisen in Gamla Stan last summer and am going back in June. Typical European smallish hotel--small rooms, very clean and service was excellent. We had a room with a view of the water--it was great! Loved Stockholm, but if there was some way I could take food from the U.S. I would. All I can say is herring, herring, herring prepared in ways you can't even imagine!

Hi Bob -

I'll have to totally disagree with Ann ... sorry Ann ;>)

The food in Stockholm is wonderful! I'm American and native Atlantan ... if I could bring the food from over THERE back HERE I would!

Wonderful seafood of every description and if you like wild game there are great places for it. Reindeer is definitely not wild game over there but farm raised (or at least domestically herde, it is really delicious and much lower in cholesterol than beef!

You will love it!

Best wishes for a good trip,

Barry

My wife and I stayed at the Reisen last summer and loved it.....We had two different rooms, one with a small balcony that was great after a day of sightseeing, and one that had a view of the water.....I found the location to be one of the best features of the hotel since it was so close to everything in Gamla Stan, but didn't require walking uphill at the end of the day - If We Didn't Want to!!....Stockholm is an amazing city, and whether you like herring or not, you'll love it!! Have a great trip! Dave
