Hotel Regency in Florence

Looking for pros and cons on the Hotel Regency in Florence.
Any other ideas on 4 star hotels?
Thanks

I personally dont know the Regency but I have checked in the web and actually it is considered to be a 5 star hotel (www.venere.it). There are a real lot of 4 star hotels in Florence and I particularly like 2 which I could suggest:
Bernini Palace and the Brunelleschi. The latter is awesome because it has a fantastic view on the Dome and it is a spectacular structure (it was created from a medieval tower, preserving many architerctural elements and blending them with modern ones). Check them through the venere.it web site, where you can also read the reviews of people that stayed at these hotels.

My husband and I stayed at the Regency 2 years ago and enjoyed our stay. Service was excellent however, rooms varied greatly. We were upgraded to a lovely suite, but I saw rather uninterestly smallish rooms. Another consideration is that it is in a residential area approximately 1 1/2 miles from the centro storico, not really convenient for walking. Our favorite hotels are the newly remodeled Hotel Savoy in classic moderne style in the Piazza Republica and the Hotel Helvetia Bristol, a former Relais & chateaux property that is exquisitely furnished in beautiful antiques and tuscan colors near Via Tournabouni shopping. All are 5 star.

Thank you for your suggestions. Another option was Hotel Lungarno and the Grand Hotel Villa Medici. Any thoughts?

I have read good reports of the Plaza Lucchesi hotel beside the river Arno - it is 4 star and caters for a lot of Americans. I am going to book it next year.
