Hotel Recommendations Requested - Seville, Cordoba, Granada
This is for first week in May (but not major festivals) -- hoping for hotels with air conditioning in the following ranges:
Sevilla: 70-100 € Cordoba: 70-90 € Granada: 90-100 € These ranges are what I think should be findable based on my (very limited - I just started) research so far)...but I value Fodorites' suggestions. Thanks. SS |
I'm staying at the Hostal Rodri in Granada for 43EUR/night for a double. Breakfast is extra and it doesn't have the amenities of a hotel but the price is right and it's in the center of town.

My favorite hotel in Sevilla, for the price and the incredible staff, is the Hotel Alminar. The price is a little higher then your range but this place if fabulous.
In Cordoba I love La Cada de loas Azulejos. It's not a typical business hotel but feels like an Andalucian home. It's patio is even featured as a stop on the Patio festival. There's also a wonderful breakfast included. It's small and family run. It's the type of place where they recognized me on my second visit 2 years aftter my first visit there! (Hmmm....I guess that's a good thing) :) For Granada I'd use maribel's guides. Her recommendations are right on. She also has guides for Sevilla and Madrid. Also I find the hotel reviews on TripAdvisor are quite good and use it for alot of my research. http://www.hotelalminar.com/codigo/inicio.asp http://www.casadelosazulejos.com/index.html maribelsguides.com |
In Córdoba I can highly recommend Hotel Córdoba Centro just off the central Plaza de las Tendillas. Modern, friendly and helpfull staff. 300 meters from the Mezquita, but in a much more local feel district than the very touristy area immediately around the Mezquita.
http://www.booking.com/hotel/es/cord...?rid=702348143 But I think you should move very fast to get a decent room for your dates under 100€ in Córdoba because of the patio festival. Lots of options with hundreds of guest reviews on booking.com. |
in granada, we stayed at the Hotel Guadelupe which is up the hill opposite the alhambra.
it was very nice, friendly, with large rooms, and very reasonable. you can park with a discount in the Alhambra car park opposite and don't need to drive through the centre to get there. the walk down into the town is very pleasant [10 minutes] and there is a bus back up which costs about €1. |
El Rey Morro Boutique in Sevilla for me with booking.com from $78 in the past others with honest recent reviews ratings unlike all the tripadvertizer fakes on booking.com
Happy Hunting! |
Like CathyM, we also stayed at the Hotel Alminar. May be a bit above your budget. If you consider this hotel, ask for the room on the top floor, looking down a narrow street at the cathedral. Very centrally located. Many reviews on tripadvisor.com/seville , booking.com/seville or hotels.com It's all a judgement call when making a decision. We use all three sites and then decide.

Hi, again...
Anyone ever stay at the Hostal El Giraldillo in Sevilla? It's really inexpensive, which makes me worry. :-) SS |
Never mind above post...just did a Street View tour of the area, and have decided against it...doesn't look that interesting. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

ssander; Look, go to booking.com/seville and put in your dates. The site will update and then you can check 40-49euros and also the old city center 'Casco Antiguo', both in the left hand column and you will find hotels in your price range and many reviews.

My price range for Sevilla is 70-100 Euros :-), but thanks for the good tip.

Many found in your price range for the first week in May in the old city center. Keep in mind, the price shown is for the whole length of your stay.

In Granada Hotel Puerta de las Granadas.

I have my hotels...thanks, all, for the input.
Madrid - back to Hostal Acapulco, which we enjoyed in 2006. Ranked #4 out of 201 on Trip Advisor. Sevilla - Pension Cordoba on C/Farnesio - ranked #3 out of 49 on Trip Advisor. Granada - our splurge (for us!) - Macía Plaza Hotel on Plaza Neuve - got a plaza view room for 110 Euros. Ranked #8 out of 138 on Trip Advisor. Cordoba - Santa Ana Hostal on Cardenal Gonzalez - ranked #4 out of 27 on Trip Advisor. We used a combination of about six travel books and Trip Advisor to pick these out of a about 30 emails that we sent out. Thanks again to all. NEXT UP: Train reservations! :-) SS |
Way to go-good job.
