Hotel recommendations in Strasbourg
we are planning a visit to Straubourg in September 2025. We would like to stay near the cathedral. Any igood experiences would be appreciated

Our favorite hotel on our trip to Belgium, Paris and Strasbourg last year was Strasbourg's Le Bouclier d’Or, located in Petite France. Less than a ten minute walk to cathedral. Great rooms, great staff, cozy bar and nice little courtyard. Absolutely loved Strasbourg. My trip report is below. Go to Chapter Thirteen for start of Strasbourg part (took some photos of hotel interior, too). Pictures below are of our hotel and Petite France.

We enjoyed the Maison Rouge during a prior stay in Strasbourg, very close to the cathedral.

It’s been several years but we enjoyed stayed at Hotel Rohan. It is right down the street from the Cathedral. We were there during the Christmas season and the lights and decorations up and down the street were wonderful.

Don’t stay at the Hilton. I had points to burn so I did but you had to take the tram to and from the center. Lovely hotel though!

Timely, I'm planning a trip there in July. I don't care about being right near the cathedral, I thought something near the tram line from train station might be convenient, I'm looking at Hotel Hannong but not sure about the wine bar thing, worried about noise as they have some outside terrace thing which looks like it is in the center area so any room overlooking that might be noisy. ANJU, did being right on the tram line at Maison Rouge make it noisy? It looks nice.

Hilton is not a bad choice. The tram is a 5 minute walk, and into the center of town its about 15 minutes. Particularly during the Christmas markets we stay here so we can actually get away from the crowds at the markets. We've also stayed at the Rohan, but not during the markets. Location is terrific, walkable to everything, its right on the main pedestrian street which leads to the cathedral. (during the markets we would not stay here).
if you have time, take the train to Colmar for a day trip. |
Thanks, think I'll book it.
