Hotel recommendations in rue Cler and Marais

Hello everyone, my wife and I will be flying to Paris during easter and then will be in Prague midway thru the trip and returning to Paris for a few days at the end of the trip, so we have decided to stay in 2 different areas, rue Cler and Marais, to get some variety and would like to get some recommendations for hotels ~$200 price range.
Thanks!

We stayed at the Hotel Du Champ de Mars both times we were in Paris and are in love with it. It is right off the Rue Cler with the markets n such!!

We stayed at Hotel Relais Bosquet. About a block off Rue Cler. Nothing fancy, but a bakery next door, ATM across the street. Ask for a room with a view of the Eiffel Tower.

We loved hotel Jeanne D'Arc in Le Marias but it's probably too late to reserve there (as well as anywhere else that will offer real value) since Easter is right around the corner.

No personal experience but these have good comments on TA, look nice, are in the locations you requested and in your price range... My thought is that you won't get the most favored hotels at this late date. I checked to see that these had some availability around Easter or 7-10 days later.

Hotel du Cadran is nice, 1 block off rue Cler. Have stayed there twice and love the staff, friends who stayed liked it, too.

Hotel du Cadran has gone 'design' and now costs 230-270€ for a double.

I don't think anyone in their right mind would want to stay in a hotel ON the rue Cler. I hope that's not what you meant.

We almost always stay at the Hôtel de France, 102 Blvd. de la Tour Maubourg, a 5-minute walk from the rue Cler. If not there, we stay at the Hôtel Duquesne-Eiffel, about equidistant.

It's awfully late to be booking, though. Good luck.

Love the Relais Bosquet where we stayed on our trip to Paris. Rue Cler is a street behing this hotel. Get a room where you can see the Eiffel Tower. A never forgotten experience seeing the Tower with a full moon at night. Nice bakery on the corner where we got our pastries for breakfast each morning. A number of restaurants around. Subway up the block around the corner makes it easy to travel.

We recently returned from staying at an apartment in the marais, but some friends who visited during the same time stayed at this hotel across the street from us. It is in a stellar location, about 1 block from Place des Vosges and in the heart of the Marais, but not an exceptionally busy street. Hotel was charming and nicely appointed. Rooms were very small, but no need for anything large, location, location, location :)

"I don't think anyone in their right mind would want to stay in a hotel ON the rue Cler."

Why the heck not? We loved staying ON Rue Cler and will do it again. We stayed on Hotel Leveque and would recommend it.

We stayed at the Hotel du Champ de Mars a few years ago and I would recommend it as well. The rooms were nicely decorated and the location is great. We rather liked being on Rue Cler.

The Hotel de la Bretonnerie in the Marais is a very nice boutique hotel. Rates are reasonable and location can't be beat. www.hotelbretonnerie.com

Area locations to stay in is very much a personal preference! Everyone probably has their personal dislike of areas, too!

I have found, over a period of time, that it is better to tell you my personal preferences, only. I might also say why they are my preferences.

To tell you the places that I would not prefer, would only bring a ton of people saying that it is their favorite place to stay! That is just the way it goes.

I think comparing the positive responses from people and making your decision is the way to go.

Personally, lodging and dining recommendations can be pretty meaningless, unless you know that your likes and dislikes are similar to the person giving you the information. I have many forum friends due to the liking of the same kind of places..you find each other over a period of time. We can say that if one likes it, the other will like it, too.

Thanks all for the recommendations. I'll follow up with a review of the hotel I stay in. Thanks again!

I have stayed at Champ du Mars. Very pretty hotel. The hotel is run by a couple. The male half is in th WRONG busines LOL! (I watched him YELL at guests. Nationality was not an issue he was telling off French folks as well as Americans. He got all over me for waiting in the lobby for my mother's shuttle. Told me NOT to sit in the area but to wait on the street. I just ignored him and he stormed off to the back LOL! It's a LOBBY that's what it's for and I was a paying guest not just a bum off the street!) Other posters on this and other boards have also reported issues with him so...

So my view it's that the hotel is nice, location is nice, but there's a risk!

We stayed at this apartment on Rue Cler and we enjoyed the apartment and the location.
