Hotel recommendation for Florence and Portofino

I'm at the 3 day countdown to a cycling trip in Tuscany!! Just trying to figure out where to stay after the cycling.
Does anyone have any recommendations for not cheapy cheap but not expensive B&B's or hotels in Florence and Portofino?

I appreciate any ideas.
Thanks,
Kelly

Hotel Cestelli. Not glam, but definitely adequate and in a very convenient location (SS Apostoli) about a half block from Ponte Vecchio.

Hotel Scoti in Florence. Very well located and it's really like a B&B in a 17th century palazzo. www.hotelscoti.com

You might want to look in Santa Margherita Ligure instead of Portofino. The latter is pretty expensive. SML is nearby but on the train line. It's a pleasant place with some nice B&Bs. Check www.tripadvisor.com for reviews.

The Hello Italy book on inexpensive accomodations has some good recs for SML, which is where you should stay, as Portofino, just a few minutes away by bus or boat, doesn't offer anything in less expensive lodgings. Have fun; your trip sounds great.
