Normally I don't like "flip" responses, but "xxx" is right on this one. Check other "threads" and postings. If you need more, then ask.<BR>

Hello, Fran. Was in Budapest June 11 -16 and stayed at Artotel on Buda side. It is part of a relatively new German chain of upscale hotels each individually decorated by different artists. The hotel is on the banks of the Danube looking across at the Parliament building on the other side of the river if you have a room in the front; rooms in the back look up at Mathias church and the Fisherman's Bastion and are enchanting at night with the lighting of the monuments. The hotel incorporates several older buildings and has a small patio off the restaurant where you can take breakfast if the weather is nice. We liked the location, just a short walk to the Chain Bridge to the south where you can also take a funicular up to the Castle area for a stroll around the pleasant streets of Buda. It is about a block and a half south of the subway station at Betthyany ter which will take you anywhere in the city (the subway is easy to use). Doubles with breakfast are about $110. There are several restaurants just south of the hotel if you don't want to go back to the Pest side where there is more dining variety or the hotel has a restaurant at which we had one pleasant meal. I'm sorry that I can't provide contact information but try for an Artotel web site via Google. Enjoy your trip.

Can some of you be any less snarky? Someone has a simple question. If you don't want to answer it, scroll on by. As far as searching, I have found searching in this forum to be a joke - I rarely find what I am looking for, and usually get a bunch of stuff I don't need. Anyway, be pleasant if you can. If not, don't reply.

Check out the Gellert. We really enjoyed staying there.

Fran, last night I posted a recommendation for the Artotel. I now have contact information if you wish to pursue it. It is located at Bem Rakpart 16 (which is the road right alongside the Danube). www.artotel.de or directly to the hotel at [email protected]

We stayed at the Marriott June 22-24. Wonderful location on the Danube. But their A/C isn't worth a flip. We were there on some of their hotest days and had trouble sleeping at night cuz it was too warm in the room.

We stayed at the Hotel Ibis Aero July 10-13. The location was not great - 15 min. by Metro to downtown. But there was a huge shopping center - EUROPARK - across from the hotel, and the buffet breakfast ( included in the room price ) was generous, and even included bacon & eggs. We booked online and only paid $55/nite. Best of all, the A/C was more than adequate, as the temperature was well in excess of 90 degrees F. every day. All in all, this hotel was an excellent value.
