Hi AB18,
Can you give us some more information so that our suggestions might be more relevant for you?
What is your budget, in figures please? And, just fyi, most hotels in Switzerland price their rooms per person. Also, what are your priorities -- lakeview, central, quiet, etc?
If you want to look for a B&B, you can use one site for that:
www.bnb.ch
You can search by map or by town name, then you book it yourself.
I have mostly stayed in the four- and five-star hotels in the area, and of those, I can strongly recommend the Hotel Palace Eden au Lac, where I've stayed two times, and the Hotel Victoria (in Glion), where I've stayed about four times. I can also say that lots of folks favor the three-star Hotel Masson in the suburb of Territet.
These days, I stay in a wonderful apartment that I found in Territet, but it's a studio and can fit only two, at most.
Have fun!

Hi AB18,
I haven't stayed at the Youth Hostel in Territet, but I pass it all the time. Its location is slam-dunk perfect -- just steps from the lake in a very quiet spot and close to the bus route. From what I've seen on the YH website, it looks like a good place to stay with some privacy, etc.
It would be about a 30-minute walk to the center of Montreux, or you could go up to the main road and take the bus, which runs about every 10 minutes.
Have fun!
