Hotel rec. for Pecs?

I decided to add Pecs to my return visit to Hungary after finding a direct train from Sarajevo, but I don't have that section of the Hungary guidebook with me. Any recommendations for somewhere central to stay?

The Palatinus looks to have lovely public rooms but not so good unrenovated bedrooms. Anyone tried Centrum apartments?

Just in case anyone else needs an answer to this, let me recommend the place I wound up at, Hotel Arkadia. My TA review is here: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...adia-Pecs.html

You can book directly with the hotel at http://www.hotelarkadiapecs.hu/ although I used agoda.com.

I also highly recommend Pecs itself, which has a number of interesting buildings plus a really magnificent cathedral. I also ate very well for a very reasonable price at Enoteca Corso on the main pedestrian street.

Glad to get your hotel recommendation as we are planning a stop here on our way from Sarajevo to Budapest. How did you get from Sarajevo to Pec? We re hoping to use the train and stop one night in Pec.

I took the train from Sarajevo. This was a rather more involved performance than I expected, due to a strike in Republic Srpska. Not sure how long the strike did/will last, but we had to change to a bus at the internal border, then to a train at the Croatian border, and wait at the Hungarian border to change to the southbound train from Budapest.

The hotel is walking distance from the station if you don't have much luggage (easier going TO the station as that's downhill). The info desk in the station was helpful and provided a map and bus info, but I got off the bus a few stops too soon. There's an ATM just outside the station.

I nearly went to mass at the cathedral as I wanted to see the interior with the lights on.
