Hotel Quirinale, Rome
 

Planning to spend a few days in Rome in February, anyone has any information about the Hotel Quirinale. Is is located in a nice area?

I've stayed at the Quirinale and thought it was a very good hotel. The hotel is near Termini and there is a constant debate about staying near Stazione Termini because many people think it unsafe. I would say that Quirinale is conveniently near the station, but it is not in an area I would ever call unsafe. It's close enough to walk to the sites, or you can take the metro right up the block if you don't want to do the walking. The street it's on, Via Nazionale, is full of stores and some restaurants. There have been other threads about the hotel, you may want to do a search.

I stayed there with a group from our company in 1996. We were able to walk many places, including home from dinner--both near the hotel and a couple of miles away (you need it after those meals), and never felt uncomfortable. There is an opera house which connects to the hotel.

Stayed there in May 1998. I liked it alot. A big hotel, with a great concierge who sent us to wonderful restaurants. Convenient to all....the number 64 bus stops right in front (this is the main tourist bus which goes to the Vatican), the metro is right up the block. Just make sure your room does not face the street. Our first room did and was very noisy, but we asked to move and they accomodated us with no problem.

Hi Avaline, <BR> <BR>I stayed at the Hotel Quirinale last April and liked it. Had a huge bathroom with tub. I do second Lori's comment about the street noise. Via Nationale is a very busy street all the time, even during the night so ask for a quiet room in the interior. Even if your room faces the side street it will be noisy. It was a great location, accessible to many sights and I felt very safe there. The metro is just 2 short blocks away and the train station is far enough not to be a problem but close enough to walk with luggage (5-7 minutes). <BR> <BR>Have a great time in Rome. <BR> <BR>Adrienne <BR>

I have put clients there on two different occasions and they both loved the hotel and location. And both are particular travelers.

As others have said, it's in a strategic location. Do try to get a room that doesn't face Via Nazionale -- as a back-up, you could always bring along ear plugs if you're sensitive to noise. <BR> <BR>And, fyi, when traveling on the buses (w/no. 64 in particular), do exercise caution, pay attention & keep a grip on your purse. I don't want to belabor the safety issue, however pickpockets do like to work the buses. I've been to Rome twice and never had a problem -- you just need to be aware. <BR>
