Hotel Pulitzer

Has anyone stayed here? Is the hotel nice, good location...?Any other hotel recommendations would also be appreciated. Thanks

I stayed there about a year ago, and really liked it. It is located in a quieter/more residential area of AMS. I had a room which faced the Prinzengrat canal--and while those rooms were quiet in Nov (when I was there), I'm told the canal can get very noisy in the summer months. All the rooms are different, as the hotel itself was made from the 'joining' of several row houses. While my room was comfortable, it was by no means luxurious. It is just down from the Anne Frank house, and has a supposedly great (read expensive) restaurant.

Hi There

My Mom recently stayed there while visiting me here (I live in Ams). She was very happy with the service and comfort of her room. The hotel is actually several canal houses connected through various passageways. The restaurant and bar are very nice. In the internal courtyards there is a small sculpture garden and lounge chairs.

The location is convenient to Dam Square and the Jordaan district-- but in this compact city nothing is too far away. She would stay there again (and my Mom can be pretty picky when it comes to a good hotel)...

Terra

The hotel was wonderful public spaces and the location is good. But be aware that you need to reserve one of their most expensive rooms. They have many cheaper rooms (still not cheap) that are tiny, dark, and not very well furnished. This is one of those places that if you have the money to stay there, you need to opt for one of their most expensive rooms or you are likely to be disappointed.

I like the Ambassade very much. I looked at the Pulitzer as well and liked the Ambassade, where I stayed for a coupel of weeks, better, though can't recall the reason. I think they're similar canal house hotels.

The Estherea is also okay, also a traditional Dutch kind of place, but I like the Ambassade best. I had a small canal-side room (I think it's on the Singel), I loved looking out my window at the water.
