Hotel price discrepancy
I need help. I am looking for a hotel near Spanish Steps in Rome in September. i went to Venere.com and found a hotel that is 145 Euros per night.
I then emailed the hotel directly and asked them for the price -they came back to me with 220 Euro per night. so i emailed back telling them about the Venere price. Then hotel emailed me back saying that they are sorry, the correct price is 110 euros per night. Should i trust them and book through them for 110, or do you think i will get a surprise once i get to Rome? |
What hotel is this?

Get a written e-mail confirmation of the price and a guarantee from them that you have booked the room at that price; take a copy of their e-mail with you.
This hotel probably allows Venere to book a certain number of their rooms at a below-published-tariff prices; this happens all the time and many hotels do it. If you book the hotel through venere then the hotel has to give Venere a cut; if you book directly with the hotel they don't. Go for it. |
Hi A,
Hotels have various rooms at different prices. Most likely, your first quote was for one of their best rooms. Your second quote, for a price better than Venere's quote, is probably for a room equivalent to the Venere rate, but the hotel won't have to pay the commission to V. As for whether you can trust the hotel, check both here and at www.tripadvisor.com. ((I)) |
Thank you! i am booking with that hotel. You all are great!
