Hotel Plaza Mayor or Hostal Adriana or Room Mate Alicia - Madrid
 

Two early 20s young men will be in Madrid for 3 nights. Torn between theses three hotels. All have good reviews, the price is slightly different. Which pace to stay? Which worth the extra $$? What location is better?

potato ...potato. we stayed at the hotel alicia in a junior suite and it was perfect for us. never stayed in your choices but we were very happy with our location and hotel. hope this helps.

I was thinking of the Hotel Alicia myself on my last stay, but it was really expensive. Unless things have changed, I've got to imagine it is ore expensive than the other two. It wouldn't be worth it to me, but might be to you and maybe your time period has different price comparisons so it's not so expensive. When I checked, I think it was between 150-200 euro per night.

I think the Hotel Plaza Mayor would be really noisy, and actually isn't as close to a metro stop as the other two. I like being within two blocks. But if you mainly plan to walk around, I guess it doesn't matter. Actually, I think the Alicia isn't that close to a metro stop, either, but I like that area a bit better.

Have you looked at the Roommate Laura? It's just around the corner from the hotel I've stayed at twice and I really like that area, and it's very convenient to a couple metro stops. I think it is a bit cheaper than Roommate Alicia, also. You can easily walk from it to Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol. It's not on as big a street so is quieter. OF course, I realize two young 20s guys may not care about noise or like it, so then disregard those ideas. It's still a good location and cheaper than the other.

Do you mean HOstal Adriano on c/de la Cruz? That's near where I stay, also, and I think it could be a bit noisy but is a convenient area. That hostal doesn't really look like the style I would expect young 20s people to like (I don't like it myself, and I'm a lot older). Looks like something my mother would have liked, but it looks decent and is pretty cheap, sure. Is this it? http://www.hostaladriano.com/es

If I were you, I'd go with a roommate or the Plaza Mayor.

Stayed at Plaza Mayor. It was fin e. Close to nice restaurants and easy walking to museums, shops, etc.

Roomate Alicia is the best clean/modern but $$$$ compared to your other 2 choices Try not to settle for an iside room-you'll be looking at the airshaft!Great location in the Plaza Santa Ana.Easy to walk to the museums,down to Huertas street.Loads of choices as to where to eat. Breakfast used to be included but don't think so any longer longer.
Plaza Mayot has suffered from overexposure is is looking tired but you can save some $$. Once again their inner rooms face a wall/airshaft.Location is great for the Plaza Mayor.
Hostal Adriano was hoping to get an elevetor but?-quite a pain to get to 4rth floor(5th in U.S.)Rooms have all been decorated in a different style..Location is pretty much equal in distance from the other 2.
I would splurge on Roomate A-they do give you a nicegreen apple every day on your night stand!

Stayed in Hotel Plaza Mayor several times. Excellent value and in the heart of the city with tons of great tapas bars, restaurants, nightlife etc close by, yet no noise problems.

Just east of the hotel, you'll have Barrio de las Letras/Huertas area with some of the best nightclubs, jazz and flamenco venues in town: http://www.barrioletras.com/

We stayed in the Roommate Alicia and it was a great experience. It is close to a lot of things, the room was nice and we had no complaints.

Am I wrong, or did calgary1989 dig up a nearly 4-year old post for some reason? BRN2TRAVL hasn't posted anything since 2010. I guess it's a lack of attention (ADD anyone?).
