hotel/pension with a view_Prague
Prices have gone up a fair bit in Prague I see, but I'd like to find a quaint Hotel preferably in Mala Strana/Kampa or Stare Mesto with a nice view or the river, bridges and all those lovely steeples. A balcony or terrace would be swell too, although I am sure that's rare. And I'd like to keep it udner 150USD/night.
Apartments and pesnions would work too. Any ideas? Cheers, Brendan |

The Hotel Kampa Garden is quaint (make that plain)on the outside and modern on the inside. Otherwise it fits your requirements. A number of rooms in front have great views of the river and old town on the other side - however, specify that since other rooms in front only have views of the back of another building. The upper floor rooms in back look out over red tiled rooftops to the castle and Mala Strana. The location on Kampa Island can't be beat IMO. It is well under $150.

I should have mentioned that the hotel is non smoking if that makes a difference to you one way or another. It is also adjacent to a park. It is pleasant just to sit on the park benches along the river at dusk and watch the city and bridge as they light up. There are also some nice restaurants on the island. My favorite is called 15 (or is it 14) Kampa. Love the ambiance, food, service, prices and the plating of the strudel if you order that.

Great. Thanks, all!

We booked at the Kampa Garden for four nights in May. Are the rooms pleasant to look? The reviews on Trip Advisor were very good.
Thanks. |

The room views at the Kampa Gardens are very variable. Those in the back of the hotel overlook the park, and from the upper floors (hotel has elevator), particularly 4th, the view is over red rooftops to the castle and a Charles Bridge tower to the right. The 4th floor rooms are attic like however with slanted ceilings that reduce walking around space. The rooms are all "Ikea modern" in decor. With the exception of room 110, the bathrooms are very nice and modern. The picture of the hotel on the webssite shows the side and back of the hotel and you will get a good idea of what I mean. Some rooms at the front of the hotel have views only of the back of the Estonian Embassy- nothing much - just a wall. Others have views of Kampa Square and some have views of the river and old town. Room 110 is designed for people with mobility handicaps and is larger for wheelchair use. It has a great view of the square, river and city. However the mirrors are at wheelchair height and the shower has just a curtain, hence flooded floors. You can step outside of the hotel and sit on a bench in the park with great views of the Old City and Charles Bridge. Especially nice at night. You will love the location.

Hi B,
We very much liked www.hotels-of-prague.com/dientzenhoefer/ It's in a very nice neighborhood near the Charles Bridge. Prices are within your budget. ((I)) |
