I guess I should have said the hotel is in Paris.

I haven't stayed there, but here are two suggestions.

1) Do a search on the hotel name in the search window above. You should get some comments there.

2) Try a search at France.com in their hotel section. If the hotel is listed, there should be quite a few comments from people who have stayed there. Sometimes these comments are brutally honest and they nearly always suggest things in the hotel area that might be of interest.

Good luck.

Pavillon hotels are part of a relatively new comapmny called Les Hotel de Paris. They spiffed up some existing places (several previously run under the Comfort brand), are now marketing as 3 and 4 star properties. Website is www.leshotelsdeparis.com Your hotel is in the 15th near the convention center. Not a particularly charming area, but if you are there for proximity to the center it should be fine. I stayed at another of their properties and it was decent for the price, not posh but OK for a couple days.

Well, any hotel that's in Porte de anything is barely in Paris, but you'll survive. I certainly wouldn't plan to hang around the hotel neighborhood in the evening - not that I'm suggesting it's not safe, just that you'll want to do all that you want to do in Paris, then just come home to the hotel to sleep.

The area's fine - I used to live very near there. It's fairly residential, and of course there is the huge exhibition centre nearby, so when there are big shows on, the area (and metro) can be teaming with people.
For shops, cafés, restaurants, etc., the area is a bit more lively towards Convention metro (within walking distance). Porte de Versailles is on the line 12 metro which runs north-south through Paris. You are also within walking distance of the line 8 at Balard - with these two lines you'll be within easy access of all the main sites in the city.
If it's a nice day and you have time, visit the Parc André Citroën which isn't far from your hotel. There's a tethered hot air balloon that you can go up in, fountains, lots of grass (that you're actually allowed to sit/walk on - rare in Paris!!) and some innovative landscaping.
