Hotel Pantheon in Old Rome?

I have booked this 4 star hotel for 3 nights in May. It is on Via Pastini around the corner from The Pantheon. I am concerned though because no one seems to know about it here, and if it's a four star then why has no one said a thing about it? Help anyone who has stayed there.

I assume you mean the "Hotel Sole al Pantheon". I haven't stayed there, but a close friend has. Excellent. It is one of the oldest (14th C) hotels in Rome. Doesn't need to advertise. All I've found on it are favorable reviews. Believe you will enjoy it. I know that there are a couple of great ice cream shops next door.

No, it is Just the Hotel Pantheon. Many people have confused this. This is why I am worried that no one has really heard of or stayed at this hotel. I wonder if the 4 start hype is bogus?

Len,
what happened to the reservations you have with the other hotels?
The Raphael was one that was also centrally located.
Why not just keep that , or go with the Farnese? both of these are in books, and have been recommended on this board.
Your trip is drawing closer ( 2 months, yes?),
and you may want to use your time on planning other aspects of your trip.

Oh I am working on all the other aspects of my trip as well. I went with thePantheon because it was the most centrally located and was 4 star and best price. I was just wondering why a 4 star near the Pantheon had press.

The Hotel Sole de Pantheon is a great hotel I stayed there several times in the 80's and early 90"s when it was a dump but they totally remodeled the property and it is really nice. The location in the central historic district can't be beat. The al freaso restaurants around the fountain are great for people watching and my favorite restaurant in all of Rome is next door to the hotel call of course the Restaurant Pantheon. An best of all is the gelato place called giolotti around the corner. ciao

Len,

Are you sure it's a four star? I know the Sole al Pantheon is a four star hotel, and it is right across from the Pantheon - great location, and fully remodeled and gorgeous. I think the one you're thinking of is the Hotel Pantheon, which (I think) isn't a four star...

It is the Hotel Pantheon, and both the people at the hotel and www.venere.com say it is a 4 star! It just seems weird!

Hi Len,

I checked www.venere.it.com for both hotels. I know you saw the site for the Hotel Pantheon (http://www.venere.it/it/roma/pantheon/). Here's the Sole al Pantheon:
http://www.venere.it/it/roma/solealpantheon/

Sole al Pantheon is right across from the Pantheon itself - I have reservations there for end of May (can't wait!!).

For location, check this map:
http://www.venere.it/roma/roma_Z5.html

Hotel Pantheon is #40 and Sole al Pantheon is #56.

Also, have you done a search on "pantheon" on this forum? I think there was a recent thread on both the Pantheons...

Hope this helps!
