Hotel Palais Bourbon
Anyone stayed at the Hotel du Palais Bourbon in the 7th in paris? How would you rate it?

We stayed there in Feb. and were very pleased with the place. Great location, quiet street, but close to metro. Love walking by the lovely Rodin museum to get to the metro, and turning the corner and seeing the Eiffel Tower is always a treat. Room was largest we'd ever had in Paris, nice new bath, nice furnishings, good value.

Owned/managed by Mr. Thierry Claudon. Mr. Claudon tries very hard to be reserved but he is wonderful & cuddly like a teddy bear. He doesn’t like rude people on the phone and will tell you he is full if you are not pleasant. That would be a shame because this is a great hotel. Métro: Varenne.
Any more info out there?
Are there cafes and shops nearby? Is it walking distance to the latin quarter and the night spots of the 6th arr.?
Thanks

I stayed there in Sept. Great value and breakfast is included. Great location. The owners and staff are unpleasant and not helpful. If you are "needy" in your travels, consider staying elsewhere. Also, bring written confirmation of the price you were quoted. I was overcharged and the price quoted was honored after much arguing. Too bad for the bad stuff because the accomodations, location and breakfast were great.
Ellen
Topper: You *can* walk to the hot spots in St. Germain and Quartier Latin. However, it's quite a stroll. By taking the Métro you would have to transfer at Duroc stop to get to Mabillon or Odéon stop. Check the www.ratp.fr site for bus informâtion.
The Varenne area is rather quiet and residential. Restaurants rather on the expensive (but good) side. Not too much around like cafés and shops. I suggest to find a place in Montparnasse (6th or 14th Arr). Better transportationwise and for restaurants and night life.
