Hotel or rental in Nice under $130
 

I will be in Nice in early September for 3 nights.
Any ideas for hotel or apartment rental under $130/night?

i found this place and have stayed nowhere else in Nice since (flat 2). the family owns two flats right next to each other and rent both. they are from england and very easy to deal with. the flats are stylish and in a perfect location. they are well equipped with music, maps, etc and everything needed in the kitchen. very high standard on the furnishings and perfectly clean. the location is perfect....you can take the bus from the airport and the flat is right near the airport bus stop. very close to beach (2 min walk) and old town (5-10 min). the best shopping and most popular restaurants and bars are right around the flat.

the negatives...there is no sea view but there is a small balcony off the bedroom. view is rear facing. owners warned us that the view was not good and we expected much worse. it was fine to have a pleasant breakfast or afternoon drink.

also, the building is a bit old and worn. however, the flat itself is newly renovated, completely and to a very high quality standard. i mention the building only so you don't get scared as you walk down the hallway or go up the lift.

the people also own a larger apartment in a different building (there's a link from the site).

i stay in a lot of flats and villas when i travel and overall, this is one of my favourite places to stay.

dima...all rates, terms and information are on the website. i don't know if the owner does part weeks in sept. i'm not being lazy, it's just that the most up to date and accurate information is best obtained directly from the source rather than me transposing it here.

In one of your previous threads you said you were planning to stay in an apartment near the Hotel Negresco. Did that fall through?

If you want a bargain, stay at the Hotel Le Clemenceau. It's a spacious, air-conditioned two-star hotel that feels more like a three-star. A single room costs E43. It's located between the Nice Ville train station and the beach. My wife and I and our daughter had a delightful five-night stay there one year ago.

We enjoyed our stay at Les Cigales for 130E/night with a nice breakfast for 10 E more. The rooms are soundproofed.

Stayed at Mercure Promenade Anglais
very nice around $130/tax...lots of other good values...

The Mercure Promenade des Anglais is a really nice hotel in a fine location. Rooms were spruced up in 2006; they're done in bright colors that make you know you're in Provence rather than in Middle Europe--which is how some of the newer hotels going for an austere look in their rooms appear.

I'm so glad to hear that you liked rue Paradis. We're renting one of their apartments in September.

Have you rented both apartments?
If so, which did you prefer?

Also, where did you usually go to the beach?
This is our first time in Nice, and we're really looking forward to it.

We are renting a room in october in Nice at Hotel Rex. Very reasonable rates. close to old Nice. Very small rooms, however we don't plan on staying in the room, only to sleep.

If you search for Nice restaurant recommendations you'll find quite a few posts.

If you want a really cheap hotel with good air conditioning, Hotel Amaryllis is worth a look. I've been staying there since 1983. It needs some refurbishing, but for the money and the good air conditioner, I over look some things. It is located about 2 blocks from the train station and only about 30 feet from the main street- Jean Medicine. The trams run on Jean Medicine so transportation is no problem to the beach. I prefer to walk and look in all the shops.

I strongly recommend the Hotel Regence and its sister Hotel Massenet. Great location, on a pedestrianized (!) zone, one block from Place Massena, about 3-4 block from Promenade de Anglais.

Last time I stayed there (2006) the rate high season was about $90/double.

Here is an apartment that fits the bill, though you would have to organise wherever you are going to stay pretty soon as September is likely to be very busy everywhere.
