Hotel or B&B in Venice
I am looking for a hotel in Venice for two or three nights in mid-November, around say 100 euro a night. One person in a single room. Location between the Arsenal and San Marco, approx. i can tolerate a shared bathroom.
Any suggestions? (Other than to look on Venere.com) |

Ditto jamikins - we stayed there in 2011 thanks to her recommendation and loved it.

Jami and Jent, thanks for that. Looks very promising, and a personal recommendation is always great.

Oceano Mare B&B?????
It is near the Arsenale. Thin |
Thanks for that, Thin, although I do wonder how you tolerated that B&B, being as it is so far from the nearest Prada outlet. :)
They claim a nautical influence, appropriate as I would stay there for a couple of days before embarking on a ten day residential boatbuilding course in Venice. Cheers Peter |
I'm glad you explained, I was trying to work out why you would only need a night or two when you usually stay for a month or more. What a great thing to do.

I never stayed at Oceano Mare.
They sent me an email last year; I don't know why. I DO NOT shop at outlets!!!!!! I am in hospital. I took an accidental overdose of Klonopin. They pumped my stomach. I will live. Friends came by with coffee drinks so now it is 1 in the morning and I can't sleep. I wish I could take a Klonopin with a Shiraz chaser but the doctor won't give me a thing to help me sleep. Thanks for listening. Thin |
We just spent a week during Carnevale at the Salesiano monastery near the garden just off Via Garibaldi. Our room was next to the roof garden and had a view of the Lagoon. The beds were comfortable and the room had an up to date bathroom. The room was small but cheerful and the cost was 50 Euro per person. Quite a bargain! And close to the Arsenale.

Thin, my humblest.
Of course, I meant an emporium. Outlet stores, shopping malls. So tacky ... And get well soon, please! |
Yikes Thin! That's no fun.
Glad you're ok. Hope someone brings you a warm Horlicks or whatever your allowed soothing drink of choice is. I know you'd rather a Shiraz, but I'd rather you stayed here to play with us & not shuffle off to dangle your feet over a heavenly cloud! Cheers & sweet dreams. |
Low season starts around mid november so €100 is quite doable for 3 * and may be even 4* hotels.
Hotel Paganelli 3* on Riva Schiavoni has a double room from € 65.00 ( pre-pay and non refundable ) or 78.00 ( pay upon arrival ) in their annex. I tried on their site with a date in mid-nov. My room a few years ago in the annex (stayed in Christmas time and paid €50.00 double room single use ) had a view of the Carabinieri almost in front and the Church of San Zaccaria, not too bad ... It was nice to have the morning sun on the Riva. Even though rather close to the Piazza, Danieli, etc, the crowd was not too bad in that season ( or I was away elsewhere during the busy time ). Also a nice roof top terrace for a view of the lagoon, San Giorgio and some Venetian roofs. http://www.hotelpaganelli.com/ |
