Hotel or Apt walking distance to Regents Park, London

Hi! I will be travelling with husband and 1.5 year old toddler in Oct primarily to attend the art show at Regents Park (and some tourist attractions on the side). Any suggestions for a nice mid-priced hotel (we would have to get a suite) or apt. that is walking distance to Regents Park?
Thanks!

Since mid-priced could mean anything, it is hard to give you specific suggestions. But one to check out is the Melia White House - it is directly across from the Park.

There used to be a Ramada right across from the Regent's Park. I'm not sure if they are closed or taken over by someone else.
You might try some places near Baker St. There's an entrance to Regent's Park nearby.
We've put our friends/families to The Colonnade nr Little Venice, but it's about 20-min walk to Regent's Park.

PS. RP is a big park. I'm thinking of Baker St side of the park, but Camden side of the park would be 20-30 min walk across depending on your pace.

Thanks for the response. We are looking for something around or under $250 (1 bedroom suite) in that area. We will be strolling the baby there. I'm not sure which side of the Park the art fair is on. Someone also mentioned Maddox 5. any thoughts?

$250 (about £133) is doable for a hotel room - but that couldn't be considered "mid-priced" for a suite anywhere in London.

I'm pretty sure No. 5 Maddox will be nearly twice that rate for a suite.

The Melia White house isn't nearly as posh as No5 Maddox - but will still run well over $250 for a large double let alone a suite. But there are sometimes on-line specials.

So you are really looking for something in a budget range if you absolutely need a suite. Maybe someone else has an idea.

Have you considered renting a flat insted?

There is a Holiday Inn south of Regent's Park, near the Great Portland Street Tube Stop. You might check their rates.

I forgot to convert to Euros. We can do 250 euros. Actually anything under 300 euros is acceptable for a 1 bedroom suite - though I certainly would rather not pay that. We just want to be within a reasonable walking distance to Regents Park. What are some good sites for flats? We will only be there for 4 nights so I didn't think it would be worth it.

check out www.priceapts.co.uk/pa33-2.htm

They have 3 1-bdrm flats and 1 studio on Balcombe St which is very close to Regents park. All of the flats are well under your budget -- between £85 and £115 per night. They are not fancy but in a perfect loctaion for you.

Maddox St is near Bond St. I won't call it an easy walking distance, though not impossible.

Why are you referring to Euros for the UK? Do you mean pounds?

I haven't stayed there, but I've seen some good reviews of the 4* Jury's Inn Clifton Forde Hotel. It's a few blocks north of Oxford Street and a few blocks east of Baker Street.

Not sure if the Charlotte Street Hotel would be out of your price range or not - it's several blocks the east of Regents Park. It's a gorgeous hotel.

WillTravel has a good point. "Why are you referring to Euros for the UK? Do you mean pounds?"

When you clarified that you menat €250 instead of $250 -- did you really mean £250?

That would make a very big difference since €250 equals about $315, and £250 more than $470.

Sorry, I was distracted by my baby. The most we want to pay is $300/night (dollars). 250 GBP is too expensive for us. I forgot how expensive London was - haven't been there in 10 years! Looks like we might have to consider other options.
Should I look in other neighborhoods (where I can take public transportation) or maybe go the priceline route - or maybe I should just find a room that has a large bathroom and I can stick the crib in there!

Unless there's a crazy booking situation, the Holiday Inn Regents Park or the Melia White House should be well under that, even at their web site prices.

With Priceline, you couldn't guarantee the availability of a crib, although it's likely any 4* hotel would have one.
