Hotel or Apt. in the 6th for mid April

hello-- a friend and i are going to Paris for 10 days before our spouses meet up w/ us-- We have all stayed at Hotel le Clement and loved it- But, we are thinking of moving around to another neighborhood , but, still in the 6th-- What suggestions do all of you wise people have for us? Hotel or small apt??? thank you

Not much help with the 6th I'm afraid, but we stayed for 10 days in a Paris Perfect apt. in the 7th which was just terrific. Lots of fantastic restaurants in this area and five mins from rue Cler for the lovely deli's. Have a look at their web page and see what you think. I think it is www.parisperfect.

If you can afford it maybe you should consider Le St. Gregoire which is located near rue de Sevres and the Bon Marche dept. store.

thanks y'all --
i've looked at the Paris Perfect and have thought about the 7th
Ira - i read this all the time - so i KNOW you love the Bonaparte! i love the price - do you think an apt. would be more or less than that - once you do all the taxes and stuff??
i'll look at the St. Greg.- but- your words "if you can afford it" scare me!! What about area above the Gare Montparnasse- ie-- around Rue Madame??
PLEASE ask people to respond to this!! I need help from all the Parisian lovers out there!! thanks a ton!!

overton,
When is your trip? Apartment rates vary a lot depending on the season.

Try these two- my wife and I have stayed in both and like them:
> Hotel Pas des Calais- right off the blvd St Germain and around the corner from Deux Magot, etc.
> Le Sainte Beauve- nice small hotel- steps from Metro and near many restaurants.

Oberost--- I'll look at both of those hotels - thanks for the names-- Jeanne B----we are going over mid April-- hope it is not raining then !!

Oberost--i loved the 2 hotels - thank you so much-- if the Hotel St.- B. is available for the times- we may do an apt. and this hotel!!

are you looking for lodging for two or four people? at the end of november we are staying at this 1BR apt. on rue madame:

they have other apts. in the 6th, in case you need a 2BR. i can recommend a 2br. in the 4th if you're interested!

enjoy your planning . . . :)

We went to Paris for the first time this past spring and we chose an apartment. A hotel affords you with someone to ask advice on general info- directions, restaurant recs, setting up taxi service when you check out. I appreciated that for our first visit, but some people really like apartments and I would look into it for my next visit. Advantages I think would be- access to a washer/dryer particularly for longer trips having a small kitchen so you would feel comfortable bringing food back to your room or making an easy meal from foods from an area market.

That said, we stayed right on the border of 6th and 7th, a stone's throw from St. Germain Blvd. at St. Thomas D'aquin and we loved it. The neighborhood is residential but so close to many major sites. At first I wanted to stay in the 7th, in the touristy Rue Cler area, but I was very happy that we picked St. Germain because it seemed so much more central.

I made an error, I meant to say we chose a HOTEL.

here it is:

http://www.vrbo.com/15502

we had only 3 people staying there, and it felt quite roomy. everything in the description is accurate - we woke to lovely bird calls each morning. the 96 bus runs right in front and goes directly to st. germain. and there is a patisserie right across the street! keep an eye on the calendar as it books up fast.
