Hotel option near Milan airport (Malpensa)
We're using FF miles to purchase our tickets which, of course, limits our flight options. Right now, the only option for our return segment means our flight would depart Malpensa airport at 6:25 a.m. This means we'd need to get to the airport no later than 5 a.m. This is too early to get the shuttle from the Centrale station.
Will we realistically be able to book a metered taxi or limo to depart our hotel as early as 4 a.m.? Or, if it's better to stay really close to the airport (I see that it's a good 50 minute trip from central Milan) does anyone have any hotel recommendations? We'd prefer under 150 euros and something that we get to and from on public transport.
Thanks!

The hotel shuttle TO the airport begins at 5:00 a.m. Travel time to the terminal building is 3 minutes.
Hotel is located about 1,500 yards from the terminal, but you cannot walk there.
I've stayed at the Cervo and can recommend it.

BTW, a taxi at 4:00 a.m. from central Milan to Malpensa Airport will cost at least 80 Euros.
A twin room at the Hotel Cervo costs 103 Euros, plus 3 Euros per person for the shuttle minibus to and from the airport (3 Euros in each direction).
If you arrive at the airport by shuttle bus from Milano (the afternoon/evening before your flight), call the hotel and they'll pick up you at the terminal building.

I stayed at the Cervo last summer and can recommend it. Very business like - nothing fancy and you can't even take a walk as it's kind of on the edge of the airport. But for a convenient place to stay it's certainly fine. Plan to arrive after dinner the night before and just sleep there.

we also stayed at the cervo.. but were not at all impressed.. the room was just so bare.
our room could by no means be considered "business like".
even the breakfast was a far cry from what we were hoping for.
but it was the cheapest place we could find, arrivng at 1:30 a.m....and we did not want to spend anymore to only be using the room a few hours.
but if you are willing to spend more.. there MUST be nicer places.
do a google search for malpensa hotels and you will find many websites. the 4 star cardona looks MUCH nicer than cervo, believe me.
IMO , if you are already in pleasant hotel in milan.. all the changes to avoid an extra 40 minutes in taxi may not be worth the trouble. however.. if you AREN'T already there.. it IS logical to stay next to airport.
p.s. be sure you know which terminal at malpensa you leave from. they were VERY far apart in huge out of the way cloverleaf type set-up.

Villa Malpensa is also on the edge of the Malpensa airport and has a shuttle service to and from. A double runs between 170-190 euros. It was built, as I recall, by someone associated with Mussolini as a private residence.
We stayed there twice. The first time we ate at the hotel restaurant and had a delicious and incredibly expensive meal. The second time we went elsewhere, where we had a delicious and reasonably priced meal...

Hotel Villa Malpensa is about 3-5 minutes away from the Malpensa terminal. You may not get breakfast, since they start serving at 6:30 a.m.; however, we had an early flight, and the hotel provided us with a quick breakfast.
The rate in May 2003 was 170 euro for a double, breakfast and tax included. You can send them a message at: [email protected].

I read about a hotel that's somewhat near the airport called La Portetta. It's in Oleggio. Has anyone had any experience with this hotel? We will be coming from Venice and need a hotel that's pretty close to the airport because we have mid morning flight.
