Hotel Old Town Square, Prague
Does anyone have any experience with this hotel? There is very little info to be found on the net. I've seen it on just a couple travel agent sites.
It looks great (right on square), modern decor but I'm wary to book through an agent as I can't even find a website or contact info for the hotel directly. Thanks. |
HI
is www.tripadvisor.com one of the sites you looked at? They are very good usually for guest comments on hotels. |
tripadvisor does have one positive guest comment from this past July
I found these as well http://prague.travelcook.com/old_town_square/ http://www.praguehotel.net/hotel/oldtown.htm |
That's a fairly new hotel, it opened in May 2004. There are more new hotels being opened in Prague in renovated older buildings. I think the official name is "Old Town Square Hotel & Residence" or something. It isn't that unusual for hotels in Prague to be listed on lots of booking sites, that is real popular there. I imagine if they get that service for a small enough price, there is no need to maintain their own web site, many do not, even the higher end hotels there.
It wasn't easy as I couldn't find them listed in the Czech phonebook (which doesn't work very well online), but I found their information if you want to deal with them directly from a review in the Prague Post newspaper from August (maybe you can check their hotel section as they discussed the hotel): phone 221-421-111 email: [email protected] They said it was a longterm apartment or residence hotel, but with one peculiarity (real peculiar) -- there are no kitchens. Well, it seems to me if there are no kitchens, it's not an apartment or residence, just a hotel but they seem to think they are something else and call themself serviced apartments. The photos look pretty nice. I think it's above the torture museum and a restaurant. The Prague Post article sounded positive. It was 8/19/04 and titled "Homes Away from Home". IN short, it is a legitimate place. |
Thank you so much Christina. I feel alot better about booking a stay here.
Trip Advisor only has one report (which was positive). I am trying to decide between Hotel Old Town Square and the Bellagio |
Just curious, what are your hotel criteria and how did you narrow it down to these particular two?

Elaine,
We wanted something central and fairly modern in style. Many of the nice hotels have a heavy antique look which is not our preference. Something in the 4 star range was also a preference. |
If you want a central location and a more modern hotel, look up The Hotel Neruda. It is on the hill going up to Prague Castle, not far from the Charles Bridge. Its brochure says it's four-star, an historical building reconstructed. We didn't stay there, but were intrigued by it as we walked by, so we grabbed a brochure and looked around it lobby and public spaces.
The lobby had a nice contemporary feel, clean and well-done. Rack rate is 220 EUR in high season for a double. Its website is www.hotelneruda.cz. We ate lunch at the Neruda's rooftop cafe and it was very nice. |
Redzelda, have you taken a look to Hotel Josef and Hotel Andel? They are both modern hotels. The Josef is a design hotel and it's located in the center. I am booked there for next February/March. It has great reviews.
