Hotel near tube station to Stansted

Can anyone recommend a hotel that would be close to a tube station where we can easliy get on the tube to Stansted. We are spending one day in London and will want to be close to tourist sights yet need to be close to a tube station to take us to Stansted for our flight in the morning. I think Liverpool St. will take us directly to Stansted so this may be a good area. We want a nice hotel yet won't be spending much time there so don't want to overpay. Thanks!

Hi ....

Why don't you stay in any hotel in central London .... to get to Liverpool st from central london takes less than half-an-hour.

Also, cann't you go by rail to Standsted ??

The Tube does not go to Standsted airport.
Regular rail or night bus are your only optons outside of hiring a privte transfer, an expensive option.

Hi ...

Just to answer my own question:

You catch a train from Liverpool Street to Stansted (Stansted Express). Look at www.baa.co.uk & click on Stansted for the Stansted airport website.

You can get a National Express bus to Stansted from the heart of London (Victoria Coach Station) around the clock for something like half the price of the Stansted Express train. We stayed 2 blocks away at the Cherry Court - very convenient and cheap for London, but nothing special.

Here is the website for the airport. There is a lot of useful info on transportation (although I have been able to get more practical advice from folks here) and hotels.

You've asked this question twice - here is the response I posted to the other thread:

Message: You've gotten responses on both of your threads - But just to make sure you realize the night bus is the best way to get to Stansted by public transport for a flight that early (the low cost airlines tend to be VERY strict about making you advance check in - they may deny you bording even if you are just a minute or two late)

If you insist on staying in London I would book a car service - expensive but they'd get you there in time.

But I think it would be a MUCH better idea to go to Stansted the night before and stay in a nearby hotel. Afterall, you can't be doing much sightseeing at 4:30 a.m.. I'd stay in London until one of the later trains to Stansted, get a good night's sleep and fly out much more refreshed.
