Hotel near Saint Michel

I am going to Paris in a couple of months and need to get a fairly inexpensive hotel. I have stayed at Hotel Minerve near the Jussieu Metro Station and think I would like to get closer to the St. Michel Station. Not sure why but looks like more going on. I have hear the Hotel Welcome is nice and inexpensive. Need other suggestions. Single male, mid 30's, want to walking distance at night to restaurants, street traffic and mear the Metro (St. Michel,Odeon) Thanks

There is definitely more going on near the St-Michel metro, maybe too much, so I'll recommend a few up the street a bit that I think are good for you and are definitely more central than around Jussieu. There are several decent budget two-star hotels between the St-Michel and Luxembourg stops; try browsing them on www.hotelboulevard.com or www.paris.org for ideas. In that area near the Sorbonne square, I would suggest the Hotel des Trois Colleges, the Cujas Pantheon, the Cluny Sorbonne, the College de France or the Hotel des Mines. There are a couple budget around the Maubert metro (ie, Home Latin), also, but I think you might prefer around the Sorbonne. The 6th is a little more expensive so I don't think there are as good deals, but you could consider Hotel des Grands Balcons or Hotel du Globe or Hotel St-Andre-des-Arts or Hotel Bonaparte in that area.

Hotel Delhy on the rue l'Hirondelle, which is a pedestrian only street, just across Boul'Mich' from the St Michel Fountain.

Stayed at the Hotel St. Andre des Arts on street of same name last year. Ourroom was large and good value for a l star place - and great location. The Hotel Du Lys on Rue Serpente - just off Pl. St. Michel is another good choice.
