hotel near Malpensa

I leave Italy on a mid-morning flight from Malpensa. Does anyone know a good hotel near the airport that might have a shuttle to pick me up at the train station and a shuttle to the airport the next morning? Thanks for all your help!!!

Shar Mar 12th, 2005 03:20 PM

Yes, in deed. I have stayed there and have recommended it to many. It is virtually across the street from the Malpensa airport and yet you hear no noise. Funky town near by as well.. In fact the airport used to be their private landing field. The hotel is lovely. It is the Hotel Villa Malpensa. Fax 011390331230950 tel: 13390331230944. We stayed in 2000 but many of our friends have stayed their since. It was originally owned by the Caproni family as a summer home. Interesting history there. Hope you can get a reservation. Shar

Thanks Shar! Do they have a shuttle to get you at the train station?

i_am_kane Mar 15th, 2005 04:01 PM

Yes, the villa Malpensa has an early morning shuttle. The ride is about 3-4 minutes, door-to-door.

Hotel Cervo is as close and half the price.

debbieinstowe Mar 17th, 2005 04:45 PM

Bob, I can't find Hotel Cervo near Malpensa. Can you help?
Shar, How expensive is the Villa Malpensa?

thanks for you help, both of you!

Last time I stayed at the Villa Malpensa, it was $175 USD.

I don't believe the Villa Malpensa has a shuttle from the train station, only the airport. There is a Malpensa Express from one of the train stations in Milan. Villa Malpensa is very nice with a good dining room, although a little pricey. Beautiful grounds.

Just don't stay at the First Hotel, immediately adjacent to the airport. totally soulless airport hotel with high rates.

suntravler Mar 18th, 2005 06:15 AM

Julie: I booked a double at the First Hotel for one night in May at 125 EUR. I realize the hotel lacks charm. But I did it totally because of convenience and I thought it was a good price.

It sounds like you know this hotel. Do you know how close it is to the bus/train that arrives from Milan?

Do you know how close it is to the Alitalia International terminal at Malpensa?

We are planning to have a 7:30 PM dinner in Milan then take the Malpensa bus or train to the airport and then on to the hotel afterwards. We need to be at the Alitalia terminal at about 6 AM.

Thanks.

Just another thought: when you arrive in Milan, take a taxi, tram or the subway to the Milan Cadorna train station. (10 minutes by cab.) This is the station from which the Malpensa Express train departs, and Alitalia has a check-in counter there, so you should be able to check-in for your morning flight right then. They usually allow check-in up to 18 hours in advance of the flight depature, call Alitala to confirm. You can check your larger suitcases. You would then just have a carry on, and could walk to a hotel near the Cadorna station (quite close to the Last Supper area, 20 minute walk to Duomo), and have dinner in the area or in the Duomo area. Next morning, get on the Malpensa Express train and go right to the airport, you will already have your boarding pass and don’t need to be there more than 60 minutes before departure. You will also avoid the zoo of check-in in the morning.

If you decide to stay out at the airport, then you might want to check-in the night before for your flight for the above reasons.

Website for the Malpensa Express is Website for the train is www.ferrovienord.it/webmxp

A hotel in the Cadorna station area I can recco:

Antica Locando Leonardo

i think it's hotel IL CERVO.

Cicerone:

WOW.

Thanks for all this great information. I will absolutely try to check in the night before and make a note of ALL of your suggestions.

Thanks again.

We paid more like 200 at Hotel First. For 125 it's not bad. Newly built, has internet and as long as you're dining in Milan, getting there late in the evening and will use it only to crash, at that price and under those conditions I withdraw my warning. It was clean. The beds were ok. No noise problems and they had a shuttle van to the airport. Just don't eat there or spend any time there other than to sleep. Boring, soulless, like a US Holiday Inn.

bobthenavigator - The website worked. Looks like a room is about $100 for a single. Thanks so much!! I hope I hear back from them.

prego !

monicapileggi Mar 18th, 2005 11:24 AM

I stayed at Cervo. You can see a photo of our room - very basic but we wanted to be close to the airport for our early departure.
