Hotel near FCO

Would welcome any recommendations for a hotel near Rome airport (FCO) that provides quick, convenient access to the airport the next morning (have a 9:30 flight out). Would also be nice to have some options the previous afternoon for traveling into the city for brief siteseeing and dinner. Thanks!

Stay in the city proper the night before your flight. You can easily set up transport for the morning of your flight. I would bet they will tell you that you need to leave by about 6:30 or 7:00 a.m. at the latest. If you're staying in a hotel, they can set it up easily. If you're in an apartment, try Rome Cabs. They're great. Stay in Roma the night before your flight, have a great dinner and wander the streets for a last taste of Italy. You won't regret it.

I would agree. With a a 9:30 departure, all travel options from Rome - train, bus, taxi, private shuttle, etc. - are available for you. One you head to an airport hotel... your vacation is over.

Fiumicino is a small town and not much going on there. Only the larger hotels would offer a shuttle service and many of these services end before you'd have time for a dinner in Rome.

With that time-frame, I'd suggest, like etkt... to spend your last night in the city enjoying Rome at Night - see: http://tinyurl.com/rome-night

But if you're set on an airport hotel, here are a few suggestions for the highest-rated Hotels and B&B's near the FCO Airport by Booking.com and Venere.com guests: http://tinyurl.com/hotels-fco

Just make sure you KNOW the hotel shuttle options before booking. It's about a €20+ ride in a Fiumicino taxi to go from many of these accommodations to the FCO airport, despite being less than 5 miles away.

Like etkt, I'd say spend your last night in Rome!

There are two Hiltons very close to FCO. One Hilton is actually almost connected to the airport. You can walk there.

The Hilton Garden Inn is very close but I wouldn't try to walk there. I just stayed there twice in August. They have a shuttle bus that takes you to the airport.

Neither hotel is in the budget range but last year they were having a promotion on weekend nights and the Hilton Garden Inn was offering rooms for about E110.

The shuttles from these hotels are complimentary and run frequently. Both hotels are business type hotels and have fantastic buffets in the morning. The rooms are very nice and air conditioned if that matters to you.

When I stayed at the regular Hilton, years ago, they did have a bus that made trips into Rome so you could take that and have dinner and return by their bus. But you would have to check to see if they still provide that service. It was free. To the best of my knowledge, the Garden Inn does not.

Hi Ken27, You could consider the Sheraton. It's located between EUR and the airport and operates a really convenient shuttle to the centre of Rome and to the airport:

I have stayed here and found it convenient for early morning flights out of Rome.

I spent one night a few years ago at the Hilton Airport Hotel.

I would suggest YOU NOT GO THERE. Food was bad; there was a buffet of countries, 'France vs. Italy'. Both countries lost.

Bar very expensive. Not worth the visit.

I last had a flight out of Rome about 3 years ago and also needed to find convenient and affordable accommodations for an early AM flight. My husband and I stayed at the Marriott Courtyard by FCO.

We also had a rental car to deal with so this is what we did on our last full day:

Upon arrival we checked in at the Courtyard, dropped off our luggage, got the hotel shuttle info and tickets for the return trip that evening. Then we drove our rental car to FCO, returned the car, took the train at FCO to Stazione Termini, spent the afternoon/evening in Rome and then took the shuttle bus back to the Courtyard. And the following morning we took the hotel's shuttle to the airport.

We have done this routine 2x and it has worked out well for us. I believe the hotel still has shuttles to the city and to FCO but you may want to confirm that.

This is where I plan to stay next time I need an airport hotel; the attached restaurant is reportedly excellent. The site mentions an airport shuttle, or you can take a quick taxi ride.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Tiber right on the water in Fiumicino and really enjoyed it. The hotel was modern and the breakfast room upstairs had great views. The town itself is a real fishing village and we found it interesting to walk along the water. I'd never spend more than a few hours here, but if for some reason a night in Rome isn't what you fancy, this was nice.
