Hotel near CDG or Orly
 

Will be flying into CDG, then flying out of Orly the next day. Any suggestions on convenient place to stay either near CDG or Orly?

Another question like this was recently posted; try using the search box above, using CDG hotel. There were a fair number of suggestions.

We are staying at the Courtyard by Marriott at CDG. It is $135 a night, less on weekdays, gets good reviews for attractive, new decor, and good food. Shuttle to airport is $5.

there are hotels near both airports. I would decide which one to stay near depending on your flights. If you're leaving Orly early, I would stay closer to there (these are close and "chain" hotels - Hilton, Ibis, Mercure). If you are arriving into CDG late, and leaving Orly later in the day - stay near CDG (Hilton, Novotel, Sheraton, Mercure, Courtyard).

If you're flying into CDG and out of Orly, you have a no win situation because what do you do with your luggage? CDG and Orly are at opposite ends of Paris. If you stay near CDG you will still have a long trip to Orly in the morning. I guess your best bet would be CDG and then to Orly in the morning

Why not split the difference and stay somewhere in Paris? The trip to Orly isn't a long one, and you could have a much more pleasant evening in the city than near one of the airports.

I stayed at the Courtyard by CDG last spring for somewhere around $50 on Priceline. Nice hotel, but a little isolated. (For more info www.biddingfortravel.com)

Re using Priceline for CDG. You used to be assured of getting the Marriott Courtyard because if you bid at the 3* level at CDG because it was the only hotel that PL used at the 3* level there. They've recently added a couple of additional hotels at the 3* level, and they don't seem to be as close to CDG as the Courtyard.

Maybe someone whose used PL at CDG recently will report in.

The Courtyard by Marriott is a lovely hotel - I stayed there for a night last October, for $65.00 on Priceline. I was really thrilled with that deal, and was excitedly planning to do that frequently. However, as Betsy said, the Courtyard is no longer "a sure thing" on Priceline at CDG, and they have added more hotels. I'm going again in May, and have booked the Courtyard for my last night in France, but not for $65.00! I didn't dare risk Priceline, so I'm paying $116.00 (senior rate).

Has anyone stayed at the Sheraton which I think is attached to Orly? If we took the Air France shuttle from CDG to Orly, would it drop us off at the Sheraton? And, how long does it take to get from CDG to Orly?

I don't know if there's a Sheraton that's attached to Orly, but there's one attached to CDG. I stayed there for a night a few years ago and loved it for what it is - an upscale business-oriented hotel where you can get on the elevator and be in the terminal. Not my usual style (or price) of hotel, but it served its purpose very well.

Right you are. I meant to say there is a Hilton adjacent to Orly. Does anyone know if the Air France shuttle from CDG to Orly will drop someone off at the Hilton Orly. This is actually for my parents, one of whom can't walk too far. So I'm trying to find the easiest way for them to get from CDG to Orly and spend the night, before heading on to Avignon. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. (the Hilton looked a lot less expensive than the Sheraton, and they'd be that much closer to their next stage of the trip)

Is it absolutely necessary that they fly out of Orly.

There is TGV service from CDG2 to Avignon. Takes about 3 hr. Has wheelchair accomodations.

Hi, Ira, yes I guess it is, they've already made the reservations. The trip from KC to Paris is pretty hard on them, so they want to spend the night, before going on, and as I said, they've already paid for the flight to Avignon. We can't go until the following week, so are unable to assist them. I'm just trying to figure out which would be easier on them. Just stay the night at the Sheraton which I understand is adjacent to CDG or get to the Hilton which I think is adjacent to Orly. The Hilton is much less expensive, but it's only for the night, and the main thing is to make it fairly easy on them.

Although I am a Parisian, I had to spend a night at the Marriott Courtyard near Roissy on Jan. 1st (because of one inch of snow... and a cyclonic alert - not in Paris...).
And I ahve to say that the hotel was quite a nice one. Nice rooms and lobby.

I'm not sure about Orly, but at CDG there are a number of hotel shuttles that make frequent runs to the airport to pick up passengers. I doubt the Air France shuttle will go out of its way to drop someone off at a hotel, so you'll probably have to have them take the hotel's own shuttles, which will involve two trips. The could also just take a taxi.
