Amalfi Honeymoon
I have planned a trip to Amalfi for my honeymoon; we will arrive Naples on April 24. Although I am not overly concerened about the weather, does anyone know what we can expect? I am also looking for some suggestions of what to do. I am looking for a relaxing visit, but also know that is a lot of beauty to be explored. Any suggestions, restaurants, etc would be greatly appreciated.
One last thing, is a day trip to Rome possible?

Take a look at weatherbase.com You can expect cool weather and rain, although the Gods may be smiling and you may get sunny and hot weather; however, the odds are against you. I hestiate to add that you may even have cold weather but it could happen.
For restaurant reccos, click on "Restaurants' above and see some reccos there, I have listed some below as well.
If you are staying in Almafi, I would recco lunch or dinner at the Hotel Santa Caterina, such a lovely setting on the cliffs outside town. They have a restaurant down just above the pool that is really wonderful for lunch on a sunny day (hopefully you will get one), or their dining room on the main level is enclosed and would be good on a cooler day or night.
For things to do, run a search here for suggestions as this area is exteremely popular on this board and with US tourists, click on "Destinations" above, and get an old guidebook from a library. I am a little curious why you picked this as a honeymoon destination if you don't know about the weather and things do to; but perhaps you have done more research than your post would suggest.
A day trip to Rome is of course "possible", whether it is a good idea is up to you. By train it is about 2.5 hours each way, so with getting to train stations, getting tickets, possibly delays, etc count on about 6 hours travel time. IMO that is a long trip for a day, and you haven't even begun to think about the sightseeing part, meals, traffic in Rome between sights. I would not do it. Rome deserves at least 3 days by itself, you could easily spend a week or more.

20 minute walk from Ravello or an even shorter car trip. They grill excellent steak and have a wood burning pizza oven and you can enjoy your meal on the beautiful terrace. The Walk down to the San Giovanni is around 20/25 mins, however the walk up(steps, steps & more steps) would take you considerably longer and would not be advisable in the dark. It's the perfect place for lunch combined with a visit to the Torre dello Ziro, the tower you see high above Amalfi on Monte Pontone.

This is in Ana Capri, so from Marina Grande, take a bus or taxi. It is a little walk, about 20 minutes, from the center of Ana Capri, I believe they will also send a car to collect you from Ana Capri. It has incredible views and food. If you are really ambitious you can walk all the way back down to Marina Grande in about an hour (a LOT of steps).

Walkable from the Piazza in Capri town. Is thought to be the best restaurant on the island. It is a 40 minute walk up a narrow path, that is lined with homes and villas. The views were incredible. The food is just wonderful.

I have to correct myself. The train from NAPLES to Rome takes 2.5 hours. From Almafi, you need to add travel time to get to Naples, so I would plan on at least 7 hours travel time round trip Rome - Amalfi, IMO not really at all feasible for a "day" trip.

Hi SK,
Are you flying into Naples?
From Amalfi, I think it is easier to take the SITA bus or the ferry to Salerno and train to Rome from there.
Train schedules are at www.trenitalia.com
For Ferry schedules Positano – Amalfi - Salerno (P.zza della Concordia):
See http://www.salernocity.com/comune/tr...i/costiera.asp

cicerone,
thank you for your suggestions. I have done some research on Amalfi, although, I must admit I did neglect to check the weather.
We chose Amalfi, for its beauty and I just love Italy, also we are going to Denmark after for a small wedding dinner with family. As far as Rome goes, I just wondered. I have already spent time in Rome, but my husband to be has never been.
I really just wanted some suggestions from someone who has been to amalfi.
Again, thank you for your suggestions.
