Hotel near Bordeaus (west0
Hi..
We arrive in Bordeaux in the late afternoon, after an oivernight trek. We are heading for a Gite near Sarlat, but don't think we can drive that far when tired. Any suggestions for a stoping place near Bordeaux? We don't want to stay at the airport! we we thinking near St Emilion..would like to see that in any case..or is it worth it? Another problem is that our Gite is on small country roads and we are not sure of finding it after dark. As a matter of info..how long would it take to drive from Bordeaux to Sarlat? Thanks |
Sorry for all the mispelling..I do really know how to spell Bordeaux!!

You might want to use www.mappy.com for all your driving. It is very helpful...will give you all the info you need...or www.viamichelin.com

Bordeaux to sarlat is 125 miles/ 203 km, of which 100 miles/157 km is motorway, for which the toll is 8.6 euros.
viamichelin estimates the time at 2h20, of which 1h24 is spent on the motorway. The extra 56 minutes to go the final 25 miles gives me pause! Is the overnight trek driving -- or were you referring figuratively to a transatlantic flight? |
I was referring to a transatlantic flight and a long wait at gatwick. i had a feeling that those roads might be slow...looking at the map is scary. I think it is not an adventure to begin in the early evening!

and a stop in St. Emilion will be quite rewarding. It's cute and navigable. Sorry I don't have a lodging recommendation but hopefully someone else will.

There is a very nice B&B/restaurant about 45 miles east of Bordeaux, along the D936 in the village of Port Ste. Foy. The place is called L'Escapade run by an Anglo/French couple.. delightful pair! If you want further info, drop me a line and I will see what I have on the place.. I was there in October 2004..
