We enjoyed our stay at the Isar hotel http://www.isarhotel.de/ in Freising, just a few kms away from the airport. They provided a shuttle for a nominal fee; it took about 10 mins to get to the terminal. Freising itself is a pleasant town; I remember a nice Chinese restaurant next to the hotel.

Also in Freising we enjoyed the Hotel zur Gred which is a short walk from the train station. There is shuttle bus from the train station to the airport for about 3 euros per person. Freising is a pleasant small town. We liked the restaurants at the Hotel zur Gred and at the Hotel Bayerischerhof right on main street.

We stayed at the Kapinski, which is just a short walk across the courtyard into the airport, when we had an early morning flight. Very nice accomodtions but expect to pay airport prices. Worth it for the convenience for simply checking out and walking across the courtyard to the airport for those early flights in my opinion.

Hi,
We can highly recommend the Best Western Park Hotel in Erding which is about 15 minutes to the airport. The hotel ia a block from the train station and a 5 minutes walk to the very charming old town of Erding. We took a cab (25 Euros) to the airport at 5am to get our flight home.

Another recommendation is the Moevenpick in Hallbergmoos, Beautiful hotel but situated away from any town. Less than 10 minutes by hotel shuttle to the airport.

I second the recommendation for the Parkhotel in Erding. Very nice hotel in a charming Bavarian town, good restaurants within walking distance. The hotel shuttle is very handy to get you to the airport and it is also very easy to get to the hotel from downtown on the S-bahn. A wonderful place to spend the last night of a holiday.

Thanks so much to everyone for your help. I checked online and booked the Kempinski Hotel. The location at the aiport can't be beat for an early morning flight. Price wasn't too bad either. Thanks again!

blivey: Good choice for such an early morning flight. It is literally just a few minutes walk from the hotel lobby over to the airport checkin counter. There is a market at the Munich airport that you can enter right from the courtyard between the hotel and the airport. We stopped in there the night before our flight out and purchased some sliced meats, cheese and bread and jam. The room has a small refrigerator so we just put it in there and had breakfast ready to enjoy prior to heading out for our flight. Much cheaper than the prices for food at the Kapinski and we were able to nibble our breakfast as we were gathering our belongings and getting ready to leave. Enjoy your trip. J
