Hotel Muguet vs Hotel Leveque

We are deciding between these two hotels and would appreciate any feedback. I like that Muguet has non-smoking rooms and that Leveque has an ice machine. Can anyone compare these two? Would a streetside room in the Leveque be noisy? Thanks.

I have not stayed at the Muguet, but I have stayed at the Hotel Leveque. I would rate the pluses for Leveque as location on the charming market street, proximity to bakeries and cafes, grocery and laudromat, sparkling modern but tiny bathrooms. We had a street side room in June one year. It was cool enough that we slept with the windows closed. The market activity does start early in the morning, however, with trucks bringing produce etc., but I use earplugs almost everywhere I travel. I don't know if Leveque also has no smoking rooms, but we had no problem and I am quite sensitive to that sort of thing. Also, I have to say I never saw the ice machine, but then again I wasn't looking for it. Hope this is helpful. Enjoy your trip!

The Muguet hands down. It is much classier. And you are still close to rue Cler and Invalides.

Stayed at the Muguet in March. Perfect location, in a quiet one-way street just off one of the major boulevards.
Tip: have dinner at Pasco (corner Bd. de la tour Maubourg and rue Chevert)

Pasco is not the typical tourist restaurant. I think we were the only non-Paris guests. It features Mediterranean cuisine.
Their 3-course day menu was 24 euro which is absolutely a bargain for what we got! There was a choice of about 10 first courses, 10 mains and 6 desserts.
Also a good choice of wines at reasonable prices.

When is it that you are going? If it is in the summer the Muguet has A/C. and I have to agree it is nicer than the Leveque. There are deliveries very early in the morning on Rue Cler that may present a problem if you need to have your windows open and you are at the Leveque.

Have stayed at both. Each is fine, and I would stay at either hotel again. If given a choice, I'd recommend the Muguet because the ambience is better. I didn't request a non-smoking room at the Muguet, and I don't know whether we had one or not, but there was no smell of smoke at all in the hotel. The Leveque does have an ice machine in the lobby. If you're traveling in the summer, stay at the Muguet for the AC. If your budget is tight, stay at the Leveque.

Thanks for the Pasco info. I think this was an Italian restaurant a couple of years ago and then nothing the last time we were there.

I personally liked the Muguet. I wrote a trip report last year about it. The street was very quiet and the only nedative was the frisky couple upstairs.....it was very funny. Oh and the evil poodle that nearly took my arm off in the lobby.

Honestly I was surprised how nice it was for the money and perfect location.

I don't have any comments about either hotel, sorry.

However, siobhan's comments about the frisky couple at the Muguet reminded me that I, too, had a few of those couples where I stayed. And these were at several different hotels. It must be due to being in Paris I guess.

Thank you to all for your replies. We have decided to stay at the Muguet and will walk to Rue Cler for crepes and chocolates!

On another note, I have read mixed reviews on Florimond restaurant. The last night there will be my friend's birthday and I am looking for a nice restaurant not too far away from the Muguet. Are there any other suggestions other than Florimond? Moderately priced please.

We were just at the leveque a month ago and moved to the muguet where friends were staying. I agree, hands down choose the Muguet.
Leveque- our room smelled like bad french chesse, not much of a suprise since we were above the dumster of the local formagerie (sp?). the room was not well cleaned, hair in the shower and poorly cleaned sheets, and to top it off one of the rudest men I have ever met as the concierge.
Muguet- very clean and well done, good location- I highly recomend room 39- view of the eiffle and huge, and our friends had a view of invalides. And friendly staff for the most part.

Just saw your question about restaurants.
My husband is a chef, so he knows his food, and we both loved the bistro du brutille, will have to double check the spelling (I can get back to you), but it is up the road from the back of invallides at the 1st round about. You will need reservations. 39 euros fixed menu, but has 4 course and includes 1/2 bottle of wine. Was wonderful, with some of the nices service we had in france and menus in english. 10 min walk from Muguet

ka13, or others...

The Web site for the Muguet says that they have some queen-bedded rooms. What kind of bed was in room #39?

This may seem a little vague but this thread reminded me of a place I ate at in the area in February. I can't remeber the name though. It is a new hotel on Le Motte Piquet almost next door to the 7eme Comptoir. Does anyone know the name of the hotel? I ate there for dinner one night. It was a small room, intimate and the food was wonderful! I wanted to try some different wines but being alone wasn't up for bottles. No problem. The waiter open some wines so that I could have some different wines to go with my meal. It wasn't cheap, (I think 60 Euros or so) but not super expensive and worth it. BUT! I can't remember the name. Anyone? ( I want to recommend it to friends)

If the room is large, the bed will either be configured as a queen or as two (narrow) twins, as per your request. The rate is slightly higher for these rooms.
