Hotel Muguet
We are planning a trip to Paris mid-August. Does anyone have in information about the Hotel Muguet. Also what is "acceptable" dress during the day-- dockers and polo shirt or can you wear shorts and tennis shoes?
|
Muguet is great hotel that has been discussed at length on this board. So has the appropriateness of shorts and tennis shoes. It really comes down to your image of yourself probably.

You CAN wear anything you want; the question is should you? Please do a search function before asking such basic questions; they have been answered ad naseum.

You will find tons of posts on both -- the Muguet is a very well-known and well-liked budget hotel in Paris, you probably can't go wrong at that price point.

If you really want to wear shorts and tennis shoes (I presume you mean athletic shoes?) during the day and are going only to tourist sites (like Eiffel Tower or Montmartre in front of Sacre Coeur) or doing souvenir shopping along the Seine, etc, you can wear that with no problem. You should not wear that in the evening or to dine out anywhere (unless you only eat in McDonalds or something). You also shouldn't wear that in the day time if you want to go into any decent restaurant. You can wear that into museums, lots of tourists do.

We stayed at the Muguet in August, 2000 and really liked it. The room we had was a good size, the street is relatively quiet, and it's easy to walk or hop on the metro.

I would recommend not having breakfast there. A) It's cheaper on the street for mostly the same items, B) Was not impressed to watch the owner spit-clean a coffee mug on the table next to us and leave it for the next person. UGH!

Otherwise, highly recommended!
