Hotel Moresco in Venice

As usual, I'm having trouble finding a hotel in Venice. I've tried several - including Locanda Orseolo that are already booked for May.

Hotel Moresco has availability. Is anyone familiar with this hotel? The hotel itself and/or the location?

Other hotel suggestions? My husband and I are travelling with another couple so it would be nice to find something with a common area where we can sit and visit in the evenings. Also not to close to the crowded areas and not noisy. 300E ish per night or less.

Thanks so much.

Pensione Accademia has a garden where you could meet your friends.
La Calcina is right on the Zattere which is wonderful.

Although I'm not familiar with the hotel itself, it looks really nice and gets great reviews and is in a good location. I would definitely take a chance and book this one.

Is it cancellable? If so, you can always cancel later, but it looks really good to me.

HappyTrvlr - thanks. I'm going to check out Pensione Accademia - now that you've mentioned it I remember hearing lots of good things about it here.

tuscanlifeedit - So, it is a good location? I wasn't sure. I've already booked it with a cancellable booking. It's a little more than we were wanting to spend.

I just got information from Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo that they have availability...but only in the annex. Has anyone stayed there? Know anything about the annex? The location? It is quite a bit less expensive than Moresco.

Perhaps I should start another topic. Is it against forum protocol to start multiple topics in one day? :)

We're also staying at Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo in May, and have booked an annex room. We research everything to death, and from what I've read, I think we've picked a gem! The reviews are stellar. Good luck choosing.

I've stayed both in the main building and the annex at Al Ponte Mocenigo and would not hesitate to do so again. There is a lovely courtyard with cafe tables for you to enjoy with your friends.

I love the location because is it in a quieter neighborhood that is still close to many sights--the Rialto Bridge is slightly more than five minutes away (once you learn the route!). Plus it is a less-than-one-minute walk with NO bridges from the San Stae vaporetto stop--this may not seem important until you arrive in Venice and experience walking over the many bridges. There are also many good options for dining nearby that offer good quality for price.

Oh drat! I went to book Al Ponte Mocenigo and realized that I had read their email wrong. They have some availability in the annex beginning two nights after we need it. Unfortunately we can't change our dates.
