Hotel Madison-- Paris, France

Has anyone stayed here recently?

I'm curious about their new look . We have been staying in apts. for the last few years, but this was always our "go to" hotel if needed, and I noticed in their photos that they have a new, modern look. Somehow, I liked the old, more French look.

I just stayed there a couple of weeks ago, and the entrance/ lobby area in particular looks really different now; much more modern in a sort of weird retro way. They've been gradually changing the rooms, so our room wasn't that much different than our room last year.

I have to agree that I kind of preferred the old decor, but it's still very nice, and the rooms are very comfortable, the location perfect, and the staff very nice, so I'll continue to stay there when I can get a good price.

A lot of Paris hotels are doing that. I don't know why they all think a new modern look is what everyone wants. My favorite hotel did it also (but not quite as stark as some), but I've seen so many doing this.

I am really sad to hear about this--we've always loved the classic look of the Madison.

it' s not just Paris, but all of France. I've been looking at websites for hotels and even B adn B's in the south and the makeovers look identical. And...it's a hotel style that's spreading worldwide. I was in India a couple months ago and some hotels looked identical with this faux leather stuck to the wall headboard.

It appears to be the new, bland European look--really too bad. It makes everything look like a business-occupancy hotel instead of something warm and comforting.
