Hotel Luxembourg - Paris

I have done a search, and was wondering if the posts I read about Hotel Luxembourg Parc was the same one as this on 42, rue de Vaugirard? If not, has anyone stayed at the Hotel Lux on Vaugirard lately? It seems very reasonably price and a nice location.

HI
the two I've read about: (TOP) Hotel Luxembourg at 4, rue de Vaugirard.
If you search on that one here the comments are mixed.
Then there's the Hotel Jardins du Luxembourg,5, impasse Royer Collard, which gets pretty much universal praise here, and at www.tripadvisor.com

those are two, don't know about the one ending in Parc.

No, it is not the same one.

I recall that a few years ago the Hotel Luxembourg that you are questioning got negative reviews which I think I read about here on Fodors. In general, the complaints were concerning overbooking.

I tried getting rate information from this same hotel last year and from the email replies the staff were not helpful-told me to look at their website for all the information and book through the site. Some help they were.

However, the Lux. Parc is quite the opposite. The staff answers their emails promptly and answers all your questions. Besides, the rooms look nicer than the Hotel Luxembourg's in my opinion.

THese hotels are totally different, although no more than two, three blocks apart. The Parc is an upscale, 3 star superior or 4 stars, quite new, across the parc, whereas the other is barely a 3 stars. Standard rooms, although nicely decorated, are really small ( and I've been to a lot of std rooms in Paris).

The man at the Luxemboug ( not the Parc) reception desk was the rudest I've ever met. I would not recommend Hotel Luxembourg. However, haven't yet been at the Luxembourg Parc, just passed by, and it looks very, very nice.

Rates shall reflect the difference as well.

The 4 star Hotel Luxembourg Parc is located across from Luxembourg Gardens at 42, rue de Vaugirard. Look at Parishotels.com and Tripadvisor.com for further reviews. Wonderful hotel.

Well, Surlok's comments sure confirmed my thoughts about Hotel Luxembourg's staff. That same man must have been the one who answered my email.

thanks everyone. I'm looking to spend around (preferably not more) than 200e a night for 2 people. I want to be in the 5th or 6th arr. I want it o be comfortable and furnished in a very "French" feel. We'll have my partents with me for their very first European trip. This will be my 2nd Paris trip. Any quaint hotel suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you checked Dauphine St. Germain or Le Regent both on rue Dauphine?

I've been researching hotels also and came across the Hotel Buci which is looking good to me - especially the neighborhood. http://www.bucihotel.com/

BTW, has anyone here been??

Please ignore my previous post regarding Hotel Buci - I just discovered the prices......
