Hotel Luna or Villa Brunella in Capri?
 

Hi. My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon and our first choice in Capri (Casa Morgano) was fully booked. We can't afford the Quissisana so that's out. However, we can either get a dbl room (medium) with view and balcony on the garden side for 295 euros at the Luna, or a deluxe room (suite) with sea view at the Hotel Brunella for 350 euros. Any feelings about which to choose? I'd love a sea view but the rooms at the Luna with sea views were booked, although we can be on a waiting list. Thanks in advance for your help!

The Brunella is my first choice of any hotel on Capri. The views are unbeatable and the rooms very large, clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. The bathrooms are huge and very modern. The Brunella has an excellent restaurant and the service all over the hotel is warm and friendly. It is located on a quiet residential street lined with lovely villas and a short walk both into the Piazetta and to the steps leading to the "beach" at the Faraglioni.

Are you the same poster who mentioned earlier that she hadn't heard from the Luna and I told her to stick it out? That was based on the offer I last had from there -- under $200 for a sea view room (but a good five years ago). I think this new choice is much easier. I'd jump at the 350 euros for a sea view suite at Brunella over a non sea view room at the Luna for 295. In fact if the Luna offered me that room for my old rate of $195 -- I'd still splurge for the 350 at Brunella.

I have always stayed at Quisisana while on Capri (pronounced CAP-ri, not CA-pree). Luna is very nice, as I have eaten in their garden, by the pool. Many upscale Italians stay there, and you will see many Cutler & Gross sunglasses and Roberto di Camerino bags on the clientele. However, the staff can be snotty, bordering on the prententious. It is too bad you can't stay at Quisisana, as it is an exceptional experience.

You won't be disappointed-- we stayed at Villa Brunella a couple of years ago, and the view and setting is fantastic! I'd stay there over being in town any day-- and that includes the Quissisana-- do have cocktails there though, it's a beautiful hotel.
