Hotel Le Regent or Hotel des Saint-Peres?
Help! Has anyone stayed at either of these two hotels? Both were listed in Fodor's "Hotels of Character and Charm in Paris." I have reservations in mid-June for both places and I have to cancel one within the next week. We love to hear any feedback!

Hi - I've stayed at Hotel Le Regent (on Rue Dauphine) and was very happy with the accommodation, staff and location. There are many postings regarding Le Regent - the following is a link to a search I did (I hope this works - otherwise search using "Hotel Le Regent" in the Text Search box.

Hi, Elizabeth_S. The link you provided is just the link to the forum at-large, I believe.
To copy the thread link, you right-click on the thread title on the left, click on Properties, then copy that link. Try it again, if you like! |
I stayed at the Le Regent this past month and liked it very much. You can find my trip report if you search on "Le Regent". Many folks here recommended it, which was part of why I chose it. I don't know the other hotel though, so I can't offer you a comparison.

I hate to sound like a party-pooper, especially since so many people are now doing what you have just said you are doing --- that is, you are making reservations at two places for the same time. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, or maybe I don't understand, but I've been traveling to Europe for many years and have never seen the need to make reservations for more than one hotel at any specific location. I think it's a disservice to the hotel industry, especially in this economy, and a bad reflection on Americans in general (assuming piglet is American) to continue with this practice. If you are offended, I apologize. It's just that I don't understand why people can't make up their minds BEFORE making a reservation, then make only one, rather than making multiple reservations and then trying to decide.

While I can't offer comparison "shopping"...since I've never stayed at Hotel des Saint-Peres, I can wholeheartedly recommend my favorite Parisian hotel, which is of course: Le Regent!!
I've been here no fewer than 15 times, and have always found the location to be the best part of it. The staff has always been friendly, and the rooms, while small by US standards are certainly adequate for my needs. Bathrooms can vary, but I've had very good luck in my last couple of stays. In fact, I'll be checking into the hotel in Late June for another visit!! Good luck on your choice, I'm sure you'll have a good time either way! Best wishes, Dave |
