hotel Lafayette in Nice,
 

Has anyone stayed in this hotel in Nice? It is a three star, and very close to Place Massena (and available). Other hotels recommended by others here are too much for my Canadian dollar (at least in August). It is just for one night, so I want to be within walking distance of the beach and Vieux Nice.

My husband and I stayed there in Feb 2002, was okay, good location but I think the rates have gone up a lot since then. We paid 47 euros for a double room and breakfast was I think around 5 euros each.

Thank you Sylark for your response. If I could just ask you one more question, since you were there, I notice that the building the hotel is in has many floors, but the hotel only one. Am I being presemptuous to think that the hotel is on the first floor? Since there is no elevator, it makes a difference!

Sirod, from what I remember, the hotel is on the first floor. You go up a flight of stairs to reception, the room we had was on that floor, don't know if the hotel has more than one floor. Hope this helps.
