Hotel la Serre has very mixed reviews on Tripadvisor.com:
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...de_France.html Try these two: Hotel Amelie * * http://www.hotelamelie.fr/#go 5 rue Amelie 75007 Metro: Latour-Maubourg Twins 102E / cont brk 7E Haven't stayed there myself, but it's on my backup list. listed in A. Sawday's "Special Places to Stay" no comments on Tripadvisor, but some on Paris.org http://www.paris.org/Hotels/hotel.cg...09057775707077 A budget favorite of another poster is Hotel de France (Invalides) * * http://www.hoteldefrance.com/ 102, boulevard de La-Tour-Maubourg Metro: Ecole Militaire Twin 92E / Buffet brk 8E good comments on Paris.org http://www.paris.org/Hotels/hotel.cg...18077775707077 |
Hotel Malar * *
29 rue Malar 75007 http://www.eiffeltower-paris-hotel.com/index.html Twin 95-105E / brk 7E http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserR...de_France.html Hotel Royal Phare * * 40 avenue de la Motte Picquet 75007 http://www.hotel-royalphare-paris.com/index.html Twin 85E / cont brk E Mostly good comments, one disgruntled customer http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...de_France.html http://www.paris.org/Hotels/hotel.cg...05207775707077 |

I recommended those hotels because your note asked for names of other good budget hotels...
Here are some resources for you to read that are from 2004 or 2003... A person on this thread said 'rooms were adequate, staff was rude'... http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34406867 This customer liked it quite well, from June 2004: http://www.igougo.com/planning/journ...re&t=Hotel There are a lot of comments on this site, some recently, going back into 2003. For the most part, comments are favorable, some users apparently didn't know what to expect from a budget hotel. http://www.hotelinnparis.com/english...id=77&re=1 Sounds to me that it will be fine if you know what budget hotels are like, if you are an independent traveler and don't require much support/advice from the staff, and if you know there might be some street noise early in the morning because you are situated on a market street. It doesn't sound like there is that much to worry about, hope you agree after you read ALL of the customer reviews. |
The above links were for Hotel la Serre.
These links are for Hotel de la Motte-Picquet. This user has photos of the room and bath, and discussed how very small the room was, and described a misunderstanding about double-booking with Hotels.com http://www.igougo.com/planning/journ...;EntryID=12419 At any rate, maybe my responses will 'top' this so someone else can give a review of la Serre or Motte-Picquet. |
