Hotel La Sanguine, Paris

Anyone know it?
Nothing on fodors or tripadvisor, found one positive reference at slowtrav.
It was described there as a charming budget hotel (no lift) in a great neighborhood near the Madeleine. 6 rue de Surene

This is my travel agent's hotel of choice when she visits Paris. She says the management is delightful and you can't beat the location.

wow, a positive reply, thanks
they don't seem to have a website, but I'll keep looking for one

Elaine, an post from 2001 quoted a mention in Nat'l Geographic Traveler magazine:
March 2001:
"Hotel La Sanguine, 6 rue de Surene, 8th, tel 42 65 71 61, fax 42 66 96 77
Small hotel run with pride. Amenities as found in a business hotel: modem jacks, alarm clocks, climate control. They make their own croissants for breakfast. No elevator. Room #101 opens on to a private courtyard. Rooms on 4th floor have low sloped ceilings. Bathrooms have choice of tub or shower, hair dryers. Breakfast available. 31 rooms on four floors. Double under $90. Air conditioning, minibars, room service, enthusiastic staff. Rooms are small."

thanks so much, it's that article from Nat'al Geographic, which I kept on file, that I got the hotel's name from in the first place. Thanks for doing the search.
The hotel seems to be a pretty well-kept secret, not much on it on the internet, relatively speaking

Then it looks like you're going to have to go to Paris, stay at la Sanguine, then let us know how it is! and if you go to Paris and you DON'T let us know, then we'll assume it was good enough to become your "little secret". :)

it's a secret for you and National Geographic Traveler and everyone who reads them....

There is one positive comment on www.paris.org/Hotels but it doesn't really say much.

The hotel was recently renovated. Here is their email and phone nos:

Hello! I have been to this place and I send my friends there when they go to Paris. Nice people and excellent service. Great location and price. What else do you need?

Is that the same article that said nice things about the Chopin? If so, what they said intrigued me about the Chopin...
