Hotel Jeanne d'Arc, Hotel Muguet, or Hotel St. Jacques, have you stayed in any of these in Paris?

Hotel Jeanne d'Arc, Hotel Muguet, or Hotel St. Jacques, have you stayed in any of these in Paris?
After looking at tripadvisor, many travel guides and past threads I have come up with these three "budget" hotels for 10 days in Paris. Location is very important because I love to visit all museums and sights. I also want someplace comfortable and clean. Any suggestions from you fellow travelers?

I stayed in Jeanne d'Arc twice in 200e and loved it. Terrific location in Marais, very nice people at the front desk, our room was great as well. I will definitely stay there again and would highly recommend it. I don't know the other two.

We couldn't get a reservation at the Hotel Jeanne d'Arc last year, but we stayed around the corner so I can at least comment on the area. The locaton of the HJd'A is wonderful! Great neighborhood with many cafes and boutiques. St. Paul Metro station is within easy walking distance from the hotel as is Place des Vosges, Hotel d'Ville, the Seine, etc. I hoping to stay at the HJd'A on our next trip!

Seven of us from our family stayed at the Hotel Muguet for 5 nights in July and we really were very impressed with it. It's small and has an elevator to 4 floors. It's near the Eiffel Tower and the Invalides. There is a metro station nearby. There's also a laudramat on that street. Someone once asked if there were laundramats. The hotel is very clean and well run. We'll go back and stay there again when we return to Paris.

ira: When I searched tripadvisor for popular budget hotels I came across an article titled "City of light on the wallet". It gives the favorite budget hotels of some of the leading guides. After looking through them and comparing them on Fodor threads I came up with these three. My one concern now is the possible need for air conditioning. I believe only Hotel Muguet offers air.

Hi to All !!
We would be visiting Paris in mid May (it could get warm) Does Jeanne D arc have air condition ? and what was the per night rate dbl.
How about Hotel Muguet, I believe this has air condition. Is Hotel Muguet also as centerally located as Jeanne D arc ? , are the cafes, boutiques, Metro station within easy walking distance ? how much do they charge for 2 persons per night.
Any one has stayed in Hotel Chomel ?
many thanks....Adil

I'm going to throw som more info into the mix. We had reservations at Le Muguet based on many recommendations on this board. Thinking we could not possibly rent an apartment on short term for less than 97euros a noc(the cost of the Muguet) we were happy to
find RentParis.com. You can rent apartments for a few days or more. Ours is a 95 euro/noc studio with full kitchen in the 3rd. I recommend checking out their website. We've been to Paris once before and rented an apartment through friends(for even less$$).a.it's a great way to go.

Yes, the Hotel Muguet has air conditioning and it works very well. We kept it on all the time and when we returned to our rooms after a full day the rooms were very cool. We paid 105 euros per night for double room with a bathroom. The twin beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was very nice and roomy. The one triple room that we had was 126 euros a night. It had twin beds and the third bed was behind a little wall in the room so it was sort of separate from the twin beds.
You could see the Eiffel Tower out of that room. We had breakfast at the hotel and there was a lot of food offered for breakfast. The breakfasts were 8 euros each. I friend of mine who goes to Paris about 5 times a year said the breakfast was reaonably priced for what you got. Some people just like croissants and coffee but our grandchildren wanted cereal and orange juice and so forth so the hotel was better for us. Hope this helps.

Fellow travelers; I just received an e-mail from Hotel Muguet stating that they run their air only June through September. Since I am going May 12 to 23 air would not be available in any of these hotels! We went to Rome last May and it was cool, no air was needed. But, I would not like being in a warm room or having to open a window onto a noisy streed. Ira, I remember seeing a recommendation for the Bonaparte on a thread. Any suggestions?

Paris is quite a ways north of Rome, and if you check historical weather data (try wunderground.com, for just one) I think you'll find that the odds of the weather in Paris being HOT in May are relatively slim. Still, it's not under anyone's control, and if this will worry you, go for a place with a/c.
For the Bonaparte which does have a/c, you can do a search on it here (comments are mostly ira's), and also at tripadvisor.com

I was concerned about air conditioning for my July stay so I bid on Priceline for a 4* hotel in the St. Germain - Latin Quarter - Montparnasse zone and got the Le Meridien Montparnasse, which gave us a very nice, good-sized room with great A/C. The total price with taxes and fees was about 95 Euros per night (my bid on Priceline was $110 USD). This hotel is a little further out than the others, but it was very conveniently located across from Gare Montparnasse, four metro lines, and a bus loop. And the room was 100% quiet at night.
The problem, of course, with using Priceline is that you might end up with a less desirable hotel (like the Sofitel Forum Rive Gauche).
